Just wondering who else has applied for early decision and if anyone has been invited yet for an interview? I was waitlisted last year and the wait was torture. I'm excited but at the same time anxious and nervous about the whole process again because there is no guarantee I'll be invited again.

I just saw that you submitted your app on 9/2. Are you sure this is okay? On the uchsc website, the deadline is 8/31. You might want to double check this with admissions. Just curious...how did they notify you last year of an interview invitation?

Oh, I submitted the supplemental application by the schools deadline 8/31/9 which is a different deadline than PharmCAS (9/2/9) so I'm still in the game. Thank goodness! Last cycle I didn't apply for early decision and I received an invitation to interview by email late January. So now the wait begins in hopes to be invited again....PharmCAS still has not calculated my gpa which means they will not be mailing it out anytime soon.

I esubmitted on 6/30 and mailed my supplemental on 7/27. I hope to get some sort of notification soon. They'll need to start interviewing soon in order to send out their decisions by late October. The wait is stressing me out because I know that they're in the process of reviewing my app right now. Good luck to you. You sure you wanna leave beautiful SoCal to come to Denver? I'm from the OC and miss it.

Forgot to mention: I talked to admin in May and they said that they check PharmCAS everyday for several weeks after the deadline because it does take a while for apps to get verified and mailed. So hopefully they'll receive yours soon.

Wow, I didn't know they check PharmCAS. That makes me feel a little better. I'm assuming you applied for early decision as well? I will definitely miss SoCal but am ready for change. Please post when you receive your invitation to interview. 🙂

I received an email last week stating that my application was under review and to keep Oct 16 open for the possible interview date should they invite me for an interview.

Today I received an email stating that the early decision admissions process will not be conducted and all early decision applications will be put into the normal applicant pool because there weren't enough early decision applicants to conduct the interview process.

I'm so bummed. Now I have to wait until January to find out.

I received the same email! I'm having a flash back of being on their wait list.🙁 However, did you receive the email from Beverly stating they did not receive your supplemental? I received a confirmation awhile back from Kimberly who confirmed it so it may be just an error. I'll have to check on that....Anyway, all we can do now is wait...until January. Until then, it will be a long 4 months.

By that account, they should've just accepted us both. 😀

I was talking about what happened to you guys to a friend. We agreed that you guys should at least get some type of priority or brownie points on your applications. I mean you guys ended up completing your applications early while giving assurance to the school that you would go there if accepted but you ended up being thrown into the same category as people who did not make the same commitments. Your circumstances have to be worth something.

Maybe we were the only 2 applicants?

That's sad that more people didn't apply for early decision. This is such as awesome school!!! Good luck to you guys! If you have any questions about the program, feel free to ask.

I applied to the early admissions program also. I think they should of at least held a reduced number of interviews. I thought it was inconsiderate of them to do that because some people lost the chance to apply to another early admissions program or turn in their applications earlier especially those based on a rolling admissions.

You guys are not alone. I also applied early decision to CU's Pharm program. I was super disappointed when I received the e-mail as well. I'm really curious as to why student number is even an issue. Is it cost-related? Arranging for a couple of interviewers and a room can't possibly be that complicated, right? Is this year the first time they've made a decision like this?

I completely agree with you, UtWizard. I think it's a shame that so many of us tried very hard to get all of our application materials in by the early decision date, only to find that they "reserved the right" to do this. Losing the chance to apply to another school early decision is truly unfair! 🙁 😡

Pharmtechgirl - Do you go to CU? Maybe you can shed light on how the interview process was and why they need a larger number of applicants to conduct the interviews?

Gdo is right. We should at least get brownie points or preference when being reviewed against all the other regular pool applicants. I have the same sentiments as you, Cat and Wizard. We lost our chance to apply early to other schools and now our early advantage is gone. Where is it disclosed to us that a university "reserves the right" to back out of early decision? Had I known that, I wouldn't have done ED and would've applied early to many schools. I guess this is what happens when we put all our eggs in one basket.

I am p1 at cu, and I love it! I really have no idea why they canceled the early decision interviews. My guess would be that they want a larger group of students to choose from, so that it is fair compared to regular decision interviews. I really don't know though. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about the program, but I have nothing to do with admissions, so I wouldn't have any insight on that. Who knows, maybe your names are at the top of the list for consideration for interviews. I would imagine they would keep that in mind, since you put forth the effort to get all of your materials in early.

hi miko. did u call CU about the pharmcas issue or emailed them? will u let us know once ur status changes fr early decision to regular n ill post too once I am able to apply elsewhere. thx!

So CU told me they did change my status through PharmCAS but when I contacted pharmCAS they said it may take IT a couple of business days to change it. So it isn't CU's fault that we still cant apply elsewhere. The guy I spoke with at PharmCAS didn't seem very helpful. At first all he said give it about 1 week and then I asked him how does he know a week. Then he said IT is a little backed up so call back by the end of the week if it doesn't change. He didn't even ask for my PharmCAS ID. Hope he's right because this is frustrating.

Thanks, D. I'll let you know when mine changes. To which other schools are you applying now? My second choice is UCSD, and I'm reading up on other Cali schools.

I'll be applying there too, Western University, and Creighton so far.

Btw, today I received an email from PharmCAS (i emailed them yesterday as well ) and now they're saying the early decision will not update until October 24th! What was my whole conversation all about yesterday with them saying IT is backed up and hopefully it'll be changed this week? PharmCAS has two different stories....Maybe they're giving themselves until the 24th because they are so backed up?

Hey guys!

Just came across this thread. I'mso bummed about the whole CU thing. We definitley should be given priority. Also it completely sucks how pharmcas has such a messed up IT system! Argh I hope we get through this!

What story were you told? Apparently we're being told different stories on why our status has not changed.

OK guys! My status is finally changed as of this afternoon. Hopefully yours is, too.

Has anybody heard anything regarding interviews yet? Do you think they will start sending invites in December, since it says they start interviews in January? Am I just being too antsy :scared:?

I haven't heard anything yet, either. Their deadline is not until Dec. 1, so I'd be surprised if we heard anything before mid-December.

Bumping this up -- has anyone heard anything from Colorado yet?

You guys probably won't start hearing for another week or two...based on when they started hearing last year. Good luck!

I'd expect letters to start going out within the next couple of weeks. My suggestion is to relax and enjoy you winter break.
For what it's worth, I found this while on the University of Colorado SOP site (certainly not set in stone, but it gives you an idea)...
