Hi all,

I am an M3 (will soon be M4) and was just accepted to do an away rotation in anesthesiology at the Univ of Florida in Gainesville. I have also applied to other programs, but those applications will not even be reviewed until June. I would like some firsthand info about U of F and some advice on what you all would do in my position.

Thanks!

Any takers??

I liked UF when I interviewed there. Large program, so networking in the SE seemed pretty easy. Amazing simulator program, probably the best I saw on the trail, do a lot of innovative stuff with it. Did seem a little more primary practice-oriented than some other "academic" centers I interviewed at. If I recall, they had a night float system and a complicated but appealing call schedule. Weather is of course fantastic (for me as a warm weather person), locale might cause problems if you're a big city person but otherwise plenty of outdoorsy stuff to do. Have some brand-spanking new OR suites which were pretty nice.

Anyway, that's most of what I remember from my rapidly fading interview memories.

Honestly, I wouldn't do more than 1 or 2 aways (if you do any). I think away rotations are best used to "go for broke" at the place you think might be your #1.
