Hey everyone,
Just wondering if you applied to UF as your first choice and what your stats are. Best of luck to everyone!

My stats:
2 Degrees
Major: BS Exercise Science & Health Promotion (FAU)
Overall GPA: PTCAS 3.11
Pre-Req GPA: PTCAS 3.27
GRE: V 155 Q 152 A 4.0

Did not have all of my pre-requisites done so decided to get my masters while i finish them instead of doing them at the local CC.

Major: MS Kinesiology (U of Arkansas)
Overall GPA PTCAS 3.80
4.0 in all pre-reqs taken while here.

Extra-Curric: Graduate Teaching Assistant for the past ~2 years. Worked as a referee for 2 years for intramural sports at both FAU and UA. Vice president (junior year) and president (senior year) of the exercise science and health promotion club at FAU. Tutor and note-taker for the office of students with disabilities. CPR/AED cert from red cross

Volunteer: 379 Hours, all out-patients but in a variety of settings. Hospital, geriatrics, pediatrics, sports, orthopedics.

Applied: UF, UT Southwestern, U of Washington, Nova Southeastern

Acceptances:n/a
Interviews:n/a
Rejections:UT Southwestern, Nova

I had a bad start to my undergrad. I did not care much about school and was an undecided major for 2 years. This changed when I figured out what I wanted to do, overall gpa was 3.11 but upper division was 3.47. Big part of why I am getting my masters now is because I knew my GPA was not that strong. Hoping the A's i got in chem 2, bio 1, physics 1 + 2 while completing my masters (with a 3.8 gpa) will be taken into account. I'm also taking developmental psych and microbiology next semester in which I plan to get A's. I think the ~400 observation hours will help as well. Super nervous but very excited that it is all happening. Any feedback would be awesome and appreciated!! Good luck to everyone!

Such a wonderful early Christmas present!! Good Luck to everyone else applying!

Congrats on getting accepted @GatorDPT ! I have a question, for the Upper Division GPA, are they the last 60 or so credits instead of the whole cumulative GPA?

Hey! Good luck on applying! I think you'll be okay because you're already above their minimum requirements but when they look at your masters and see that you're doing great, I think that's really going to help you!

Yes I believe so. It's basically your Junior and Senior years..

and THANK YOU!!!

Congratulations on your acceptance @GatorDPT!!!! That's amazing that they contacted you so early!

@DPTgal07 thanks for the words of encouragement. And yes upper division means 3000 & 4000 level classes which are typically your last 60 credits. I hope we all get to find out soon!

UF uses all hours AFTER your first 60 hours. They also use their own system for calculating GPA numbers that has nothing to do with PTCAS. Good luck

Hey everyone! I applied to UF and I am really hoping for an acceptance. It would be one of my top choices. I was not able to go and visit the campus, unfortunately, so all I have to go off of is the website and the fact that they offer the DPT/MPH option. Has anyone been there, or can some of those who have been enrolled there before tell me of their experience with the school and the area?

Here are my stats:

University: bridgewater state university
Major: biology
Minors: health promotion & psychology
Cumulative gpa: 3.58 ptcas
Prerequisite gpa: 3.37
Gre: V 154 Q 154 AW: 4.0
Extracurricular: children's physical developmental clinic (clinician 4 semesters group leader 2 semesters), Eta Sigma Gamma health education honorary society member, vp, & president. Also undergrad research in molecular biology, and work as a peer educator and tutor
Experience: 184 hours interning at ortho pt outpatient clinic, 16 at inpatient, 20 hours early intervention pt job shadowing
Applied: MGH, URI, U North Carolina, Duke U, Arcadia U, U Miami, U Florida, Nova SE
Interviews: U Miami, URI
Acceptances: Nova SE (declined), Arcadia DPT/MPH
Rejections: UNC

You already got a UCF acceptance?

Im speaking with admissions tuesday and placing my deposit down. Im almost positive Ill be here. Finishing my major August 7th and then hopping in.
I don't think UF requires deposits. I also got accepted early, but haven't heard anything since. Please let me know if my information is wrong about the deposit. Congratulations on the acceptance!

Nope. Youre totally right. It is just a form that is an agreement.

Has anyone heard anything recently about the waitlist or acceptances to UF?

Just wondering, how do you know that UF uses their own system to calculate GPA?

Those of you who were accepted how were you notified? Via email or mail first?

No mail I heard.

Just curious, what was your reasoning for UCF over UF? Tuition, curriculum, or just more comfortable in Orlando?
I got accepted today, but I will be attending UCF!

Many reasons actually. To name a few:

1. I graduated from UCF so yes, I do feel more comfortable there

2. Smaller class size, so I feel like each student will get more attention.

3. There's way more to do in Orlando during the little free time I will have.

4. I've been talking with some of the faculty since my undergrad, so I'm very familiar with them.

5. They have the option of taking a trip to Kingston, Jamaica to do PT there, which I really want to do.

I could go on about pass rates, curriculum, etc. But I wont bore you. Lol

Nice! Hey, just plain curiosity honestly. Good luck! My spot should be given up for someone.

I asked about it, and that's what they told me. Most schools are surprisingly open about admissions if you ask specific questions.

Theyre letting them out slowly.....the fb group has started... its around 50 students currently.
It's hard to tell how many in the group are accepted students vs. 2nd year students part of organizing the group. Don't get discouraged yet people, there is still room and time!
