Gotten into UF + interviewing at UMN. If I get into the UMN I'm concerned if attending there is worth it. Currently live in Florida; but i got into the satellite campus and am concerned about getting into a good PYG1 going there.

Uf would be cheaper for me (instate + no moving fees). However, i'm sick of Florida. There's also 5+ Pharmacy schools here and the job outlook is terrible compared to other states. Also the satellite school I got into is located in the boonies and has to compete with another Pharmacy school for residencies in the area.

UMN would be ~$10k more per year + relocating fees. It's high on pharm school rankings (3) and in the middle of a big city. It's location means theer are several hospitals for residencies and there aren't really any other major pharm schools in minnesota.

Cost is a factor in my decision definitely but also my happiness (living in a bigger city A CHANGE FROM FLORIDA); the ease of getting a residency after school, and securing a job in a state that's not congested to hell with recent graduates from 5+ other schools. Any ideas or input would be great ot hear 🙂.

FYI you are not at a disadvantage for a residency position if you attend a distance campus.

IMHO you should go where it's cheaper. Just because its only 10k more a year remember its 10k more a year plus 6.8% interest rate for the life of the loan. UF is the most respected pharmacy school in the state from perspective of other pharmacists and potential employers I've heard that from both retail and hospital settings.

Whatever you choose good luck.

Hi guys,
I am in a similar situation. I got into the Twin Cities Campus of University of Minnesota and the Chicago Campus of UIC. I am not sure which school to choose. Minnesota is ranked number three in the country and based on their curriculum they seem to prepare their pharmacists very well. I am also interested in the joint PharmD/MPH which is only offered at UMN but that's not a deal breaker. Tuition is about $13000 cheaper/year at UIC as I am in state but I really got a good feeling about Minnesota. UIC is highly ranked as well and they're number 4 in research funding. Both are good programs but not sure which one would give me the best opportunities after graduation. I will probably be moving down south to Florida after school so the school that would give me the best chance opportunities after graduation would be the one I want to choose. Any pros or cons that you guys could provide would help tremendously
