Yeah... Illinois is pretty disorganized. I'm sorry you guys have to go through all the added stress. The disorganization, sadly, doesn't go away once you're in school here. The left hand never really seems to know what the right hand is doing. It will probably be better for your class, though, since you won't be the new curriculum guinea pigs like our class was. One word of advice if you end up going here: talk to your big sib about what to buy for clinics instead of going off the list they give you. They had us buy a whole bunch of stuff that turned out to be unnecessary (ex: 1. They told us we had to buy new scrubs from them and couldn't wear scrubs we already had because it was a biosecurity issue. Once we got in clinics, the clinicians told us we could wear whatever scrubs we wanted, even ones we wore back home. Money wasted. 2. They also made us order boot covers for our large animal rotations, but they took forever to come in and most people had to end up going out and buying additional boots anyways. It turns out the boot covers they made us buy were the short ones, and for the rotations we should have the tall covers so that cow **** doesn't fall in the tops of them. Money wasted. 3. We had to buy a set of surgical instruments that included suture scissors, bandage scissors, hemostats, and towel clamps. For the suturing we learned on our rotations, we could have spent ~ $10 for the tools necessary for suturing and not bought a $70 kit with a bunch of things we'll never use. Money definitely wasted. I mean, it's not like we're going to bring in our own towel clamps for junior surgery and wait around while they get sterilized! The Clinical Skills Center has sets of instruments that you can play with anyways, so it's not even like you need them just to familiarize yourself. ) I don't think they were just trying to rip us off (hopefully), but whoever came up with the package for us to buy obviously didn't know what we actually needed. I spent over $200 on the package and didn't end up using a majority of what I bought.

thanks for the post. i know its hard to admit stuff about a school you love. it doesnt change my opinion about IL (i still love it) but im glad you could be honest about all of this stuff so we can watch out for it and save money 🙂

I'm sure every school has down sides. Don't get me wrong, I love Illinois and I think the new curriculum is worth the hassles that come along with instituting a new program. I think the class of 2014 is going to have a much easier time of it now that a lot of the kinks have been worked out.

just talked to a woman in admissions, she told me that all posted statuses were correct, just that the school "didn't want the students to find out that way"... so congrats all you guys who got invites! oh and she said letters should be arriving soon, in the next few days...

hmm mixed with extreme happiness and a little bit of anger lol yayy for the interview! i just can't believe they made everyone worry for no reason. they should have just apologized that it was announced on the web first and not letters, instead of telling everyone the status changes may/maynot be correct. And besides, i dont really care if it is announced on paper or email. Email is greener...save the acceptances for paper IMO

why wouldn't they want people to find out that way, its the way its been for years? i agree-an email would be 100% fine by me, if not preferred! eesh.

I can't help but be confused...maybe I'm missing something since I kind of skimmed the topic.

So they leaked rejections and acceptances??

But mine still says Application Review in Progress -- so did they just forget about my application entirely? 😕

stormwarning-
if you didnt go to your status page on Thursday of last week-you probably missed your 'leaked' interview invite/non invite. You'll have to wait and see what your letter says!

and DPG-did she say if the status page was going to change at all, like today or soon? what the heck is the purpose of it then?

exactly. isnt the purpose of the web portal so that they can announce the decisions on the website so you find out asap?? i also feel bad for people who got rejections both in jan, and earlier in dec. then were told "oh wait nvm its a mistake" so then they had false hope just to find out later they were rejected. jeez...students have feelings!

It sucks. Oh well, time to concentrate on ACEing that interview! See y'all in about a month!

So my status just officially changed back to "interview offered" I think it's real this time! Yay :soexcited:

Mine too! Hopefully we'll get the letters soon!

mine changed back too. *phew*

Now, off to studying my vampire glamoring techniques so I can have a problem free interview....

yep mine is back to interview offered.. strange and im not sure what to think of illinois making this mistake and then saying that the posted status weren't real blah blah blah

Thats a load of my mind, at least I/we know for sure we got interviews at Illinois...Now hopefully there are no more "status" changes. Congrats everyone with interviews!🙂

Haha, yea, this time I won't say that I hope its not a mistake. LOL I always jinx things.

So I read previously on this thread that someone said the interviews are on February 22. Is this for sure? ....Just curious so everyone could start planning ahead of time

Congratulations everyone - again!! 🙂

Pinsirb2 - when I called up there, the woman from the admission's office told me it would be February 22.

Now the website isnt working for me 🙁

Congrats everyone! Before I got too excited, I called to ask if it was for real this time and the lady said yes!!

Woo!!! Status changed to interview offered!!! *flails* So excited! :hardy::hardy::hardy:

Anyone know if we need to apply for financial aid before we are accepted?

We should know that we are accepted by the first week of March, and I am pretty certain that FAFSA forms aren't due until the middle of March or April...So I'd think you should get that stuff started just in case...

I saw on the website just now that it is due on March 15. Guess I should get started just in case!!!

Just got my official letter in the mail confirming my interview!!! What a relief after all the craziness with the status changes! Make sure you read the letter when you get it...lots of good information in it, including websites to check out!

Are you from IS or OOS? Just trying to figure out how long it's going to take for the mail to come to me! 🙂

Yay! Now I can actually open the bottle of Welches and celebrate!
Thank you for the link to the interview information!

I'm IS and live right down the street from the school...so anyone else may have a while...🙂

are u guys able to download all the links on this website? Two of the documents are .pub files and I am unable to view them. Anyone else having this problem? Im using a mac btw...

i couldnt open all of them. i was able to open the schedule and the dress policy. i figured they will be updating it later. i couldnt even find that link when i tried. i went to IL home page and tried to find it...AHH i hate their website lol so i just bookmarked what luvgolden posted

It is under academic and student affairs by their calendar. I am guessing that they just haven't updated all of the links yet. The letter may have more information.

still looking forward to solid evidence that my interview is real lol i hope it comes today!

For those of you in the Urbana area that got your letters already, does it give you the time of the interview, or will that come later? I am in Chicago, so I'm expecting my letter when I get home from work today-but that won't be until about 7pm, and I just want to know!

I live in central illinois (about 1.5 hours from the school) and I got my letter on wed. It does list your exact interview time on the letter so that is a bonus.

Haha: The letters are dated 01/15/2010. I guess they DID post our interviews too early by accident.

I got my letter today! I am STOKED, people.. STOKED.

and this just makes me laugh: :diebanana:

noooooooo, not the bananananaa!!!! 🙁

yayy i want my letter! i want to know what time my interview is!

Pigsfoot - I am lovin' the banana!!!

I got my letter yesterday - my interview is at 10:30 a.m. 🙂 I am so flippin' excited!!!!!!!!!!!

I got mine today. My interview is at 3pm.

Since we have to RSVP by 2/8, I'm gonna say yes to them, but is it safe to assume that they can't kill me or anything in the off chance that I manage to get in somewhere before 2/22 and thus decide not to go later? I don't expect to get in anywhere, but just in case...all this flying is horrifically expensive.

I don't think they would expend the resources to track you down. So I would say you are safe to confirm your interview.
My interview is at 3:30 pm. Does anyone know if there is a rhyme or reason for the time they assigned us?

I still didnt get my letter. Are you guys OOS? and how far OOS lol
