Congrats for getting accepted to Iowa & the IMEI program! I won't be in Iowa this summer, but I really look forward to meeting everyone during orientation this August.

My mom and my wife went out to Iowa a week and a half ago and found a house in North Liberty. We're going to be moving out near the end of July. I'm so stoked!!

Hi everybody!

I was just accepted this weekend to the Carver College of Medicine!! I am excited to meet you all in the fall!

I also own a 3 bedroom townhouse on the southeast side of town in IC. It is on a bus line and is pretty easy to get into and out of town. However, I have 2 kids and a wife so this place is getting WAY TOO SMALL!!! If anybody is interested in buying it, drop me a message! I'd like it to go to someone good- it's a great little place and we've priced it pretty competitively and want to move out soon!

Again, it's exciting to have gotten in and I look forward to seeing ya'll in the fall!!!

Hey incoming M1's,

I will be doing all my rotations in a different city this fall so I am looking for someone to sublet my apartment starting August 1st. Length of lease is totally negotiable (9 or 12 months or whatever) which is perfect because most of you will be gone the summer after your M1 year.

It is a one bedroom in a two bedroom apartment (shared with another female medical student). It is about 7 minutes to the medical school (MERF) and 5 minutes to the medical library. Rent is $440 which includes all utilities. Please email me at [email protected] if you're interested!

Congrats on getting in! Iowa's a great school. 🙂

Anyone knows where they'll live yet? I'm looking at apartments and it looks like it's way cheaper to live in Coralville and to commute to Iowa City. It's a 7-min drive away and there's a bus route that goes straight to the UIHC. You can also get a transit pass for the bus for $16/month or $80/semester as an Iowa student. Looking at craigslist, it looks like there are a bunch of 2BR apartments for less than $600 including heat and water. Anyone else with other ideas?

Hi.

I was wondering if anyone here is going to teach for Kaplan this fall? I've been teaching for a little while out of state and I want to keep doing it but I'm getting a lot of opinions from family that it'll be too much and it'll take too much time away from school etc. Any M2 or M3 students out there who did it your M1 year, how was it?

Thanks!

Hey everyone! If any one of you is still looking for a place to live, here is a great option. I would have chosen to live here for all four years, but I'm actually going to attend a different dental school. It's a very nice studio located on 902 Newton Rd. It has its own bathroom, kitchen, walk in closet, and coat clos...et. There's also laundry on site. All utilities are paid by owners. The rent is $500 per month and it's a really good deal with excellent quality. Please send me a note or e-mail [email protected] for more information!

We are going to be moving out to Iowa in a month. We're really excited! Not so much about the 26 hour drive though.

Has anyone looked at the book list? I'm hoping to find some advice on which I actually NEED to buy and which I can get away with not having...
