Has anyone heard anything from Iowa?? I know only one person who’s heard back and I’m curious if they’ve only sent out one wave of acceptances

I think I saw your post the other day on another thread. If you’re the same person then you’re still the only person I know of who’s heard anything

I think I asked another person who said they got admitted a few weeks back, and that’s the only other person I’ve heard from as well. They send out acceptances very slowly from what I can tell. Best of luck!

Same I interviewed on 10/25 and am still chomping at the bit to hear back

I'm still waiting as well. 4 of my friends have been accepted, most on 12/6, so it looks like they're waiting for those first acceptances to confirm or deny before sending out more. Sadly it's looking like the waitlist is in our future, friends.

I was accepted on 12/2 as well as one other person from my school. I also have seen at least 5 others on Facebook accepted 12/2.
Damn. Do you know anyone who has gotten a rejected/waitlisted reply? Or anyone who said they aren’t attending?

I heard back on Dec 30th that I got in (probably because someone didn't accept their spot lol) and have decided to go there!! I interviewed on 11/8 so it took forever to hear back

Has anyone heard anything else from Iowa? I know they extended their notification date to yesterday but I assumed that meant they would send out waitlist/rejection notifications by then as well.

I haven’t heard back and it is killing me. I guess no news is better than bad news, but I just need to know!

I know this is U of I thread, but does anyone have any news on DMU? I’ve been scouring the forum but all I can find is one person that interviewed last year. I believe I read online interviews are held until March?! Anyone have any info on them? Thanks in advance!

I interviewed at DMU at the end of October and was put on the alternate list. One of my co-workers interviewed there just last week (applied beginning of December) and said the other interview day he could have gone to was at the end of February so they are at least interviewing until then.

I interviewed there last week as well. They told us that they would begin reviewing our interview group’s applications again and that we’d get a notification by next Friday.

I’m almost thinking of emailing them but I don’t want to be too pushy. I’m taking a class next semester (that starts Tuesday) and I need to know if I have to purchase the non-refundable, brand new, $300 loose leaf textbook for that class or not.

I totally agree. I emailed in late December so I am resisting the urge to do so again. Here is to hoping we find out soon!!

I heard back from DMU 5 days after my interview there on 11/15 and got an acceptance. I think since DMU has rolling admission they send out offers in the same fashion so it really depends on when you interviewed. I placed my seat deposit back on the 10th of January while I was waiting to hear back from Iowa since that was my first acceptance and I would be happy to go there. I heard back from Iowa yesterday saying I was placed as an alternate. So now I'm planning on accepting that spot and letting fate decide. Does anyone know if accepting a spot as an alternate at Iowa is at all binding? Good luck everyone!

I’m not sure but I doubt it. I think it just means you’ll get offered a seat if it opens and you can decline if you want. I was also offered an alternate spot at Iowa but I’m supposed to be getting a decision from DMU this week.

Edit: phrasing

Does anyone know if Iowa ranks alternates and if they will disclose someone's position on the waitlist?

I’m not sure if they rank, but if they do, they don’t disclose it. I’ve been told though that they pull a lot of people from the alternate list to the accepted class

They don't specifically rank them. I met with someone last Thursday to ask that question. I was told, "No, but you're probably something like mid-to-top tier. Your chances are okay", which didn't exactly bolster my confidence. I was accepted today, so I am inclined to believe her, and I would suggest that if you guys are bent on attending here, I would schedule a meeting to talk about it. I think it made the difference.

How did you go about scheduling a meeting? Who did you contact? Thanks!

I emailed the lady who contacted me about the interview back in October, who scheduled me with someone from the admissions committee. I don't want to name anyone publicly here, but you can DM me if you want more specifics. Good luck!

I am sure I know who you are talking about. Thank you so much! And congrats!

Does anyone know if Iowa has filled all of the seats? I've been accepted to another school and paid the deposit, but this is my first choice so I am still on eggshells!

The class is normally pretty fluid even until quite late in the game. You can email the program to ask if spots are still being opened up. Orientation for this class is in mid-April. Evidently that's normally when things really slow down and the class is pretty much determined. That being said, I have heard of people being offered a spot as late as June, though it isn't very common. Good luck!

Source: I heard all of this from someone on the admission's committee. I'm just a student myself, so I don't have extensive experience with the process.
