I was just wondering if there is anyone that is a current dental student out there that can tell me some about the school, their experience there, chair time, etc. I would really appreciate it. Thank you a ton!

any specific questions? I got in there this year and am most likely going there. One of my best friends is a D-1 this year and I've talked to him quite a bit, his bro also went through the program. I'd love to help if I can!

I have a question about applying to University of Iowa: What are their requirements for letters of recommendation? (i.e. # of science profs, dentist, employer, etc.) Thanks a bunch!

I just graduated from Iowa this past year. I really can't say enough about how great of a dental program they have. You start seeing pts as a second year doing basic operative dentistry and prophy appts. Every student gets their own chair. The school curriculum is set up as rotations through each specialty as a 3rd year then a comprehensive general dentistry atmosphere as a 4th year. There is never a time when you aren't seeing a pt because a chair isn't available (like i said everyone has their own chair). During 2nd and 3rd year the school secretaries fill your schedule for you. 4th year you are responsible for scheduling and managing pts on your own. It's a challenging curriculum, but it is very doable. Everyone in my class had plenty of pts and appts to finish and graduate on time. If you have more questions, post them, and I'll respond as I can.

Hey thank you for replying! I am very excited to attend Iowa next year! As far as the board exams go..do you feel like Iowa really prepared you for them? From what I got from other students during the tour that the school goes beyond and above preparing you which seemed like a lot more than most schools that I looked at did...
