** High Priority **

January 3, 2003

Dear Mr. Mendoza:

It is my pleasure to extend to you an invitation to interview for a
position in the 2003 entering class of the University of Kansas School
of Medicine. Interviews will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, in
the School of Nursing building. The School of Nursing building is
located on Rainbow Boulevard, just south of 39th Avenue. (On the
Rainbow Blvd side, the School of Nursing building is directly across
from Texas Tom's.) For a fee of approximately $5.00, you may park in
the parking garage located on Cambridge Drive across from KU Hospital.
All surface lots are restricted. The following URL's provide directions
to the KU Medical Center and to the Cambridge Parking Facility.

http://www.kumc.edu/Pulse/map.html

If the weather is pleasant, the easiest route to the School of Nursing
is to walk north on Cambridge Street to 39th Avenue. Turn left on 39th
and walk west past the KU Med Bookstore sign and Orr-Major building.
Turn left on the sidewalk between Orr-Major and Taylor (which is under
renovation and has no signage.) The School of Nursing is the large new
building that will be on your right. You will enter on the ground
level. Please arrive at 10:40 am and check in with Diana at the
registration table.

Each of your two interviews will be conducted by one or two members of
our interviewer panel, with each interview lasting approximately 30
minutes. After you check in with Diana, I will meet with you and your
colleagues to give you an overview of the interview day and the
selection process.

Please bring these two items with you to the interview:

1. a wallet or passport size photograph of yourself, with your name
printed on the back

2. a printed copy of your submitted AMCAS application

Using your copy of the AMCAS application as the "source document," I
will ask you to verify the application we have in your file. We will
not keep the copy you bring; you will be able to take it with you when
you leave.

We have several other activities also planned for you during your time
on campus. These include sessions with the director of student
financial aid and with the deans responsible for student affairs and
curriculum, lunch with medical students, and a tour of campus. If you
choose to participate in the tour (the last activity), you can expect
your day to be completed by 6:00 pm.

Please immediately reply to this message, either to confirm your
interview appointment or to decline your invitation to interview. In
your reply, include the date of your interview. Because this is our
last interview session of the year, it is very important that we hear
from you promptly. If, after confirming your interview, you determine
that you will not interview at KU, again, please call us immediately.
We have a number of other well-qualified applicants who will be invited
to fill declined interview slots, as well as those that open before
January 25. Please respect your future colleagues by meeting your
professional responsibilities.

Finally, do not hesitate to send an e-mail or call 913-588-5283 if we
can be of assistance to you. We do look forward to meeting you soon!
Sincerely,

Sandy McCurdy
Assistant Dean, Admissions
