I wonder if it was my review that you were reading from back then.
The only update I could add is that the strengths are still the basics: inpatient/outpatient CVA/SCI/TBI, EMG and spasticity managment. You will be GREAT in spasticity management--Botox, intrathecal baclofen pump management, oral meds.
The weakness would be exposure to sports/spine/interventional practices (anesthesiology kind of rules the roost down there so there was never a PM&R clinic to get into). Also peds--had more of peds ortho surgery slant, not specifically rehab (but that is good if like myself, you don't want to do peds).
Grads don't have problems getting into fellowships or finding jobs. 100% board pass rate (both written and orals) for the past couple of years.
I really do miss Kentucky nurses. They are the nicest! Well at least at the rehab hospital.
As for pay, it's really good (esp. considering cost of living). Hours were not a problem aside from intern year (I thought the surgical months were the hardest, but I think the newer residents thought medicine was more grueling--so who knows?).
