I got it this morning also. You first have to fill out a form, and once they have received it I believe then they confirm you for an interview.

I haven't heard a word from Maryland about anything - not a secondary or even a confirmation letter. I know they have all of my stuff because I called a while ago about it.

I don't remember a 2ndary application from UMD.

the 2ndary is sent via email when you receive your interview invite. there is no essay... it's just name, address, requirements, residency info, etc.

do you think rescheduling the interview would be a good idea?

i have an exam on the same date. i can move the exam but with some disadvantages on me, like regular multiple choice & T/F exam to all essay. 😡

I rescheduled..the date they gave me caused some conflict. The lady that answered didnt seem to care..i told her what days would be good for me..and she gave me another date. It wasnt a big deal.

I faxed my secondary on 9/11 and received my invitation 9/12......contact them...

I was wondering this same thing myself as I debated whether to reschedule.

It seems a common assumption that interviewing pre-December 1st will equal better odds than a post-Dec 1st interview.

However, I wonder if all pre-Dec 1st interviews have a similar chance for acceptance as far as that one variable is concerned.

I interviewed at Maryland back in January and the interview was pretty much what you would expect. It was one faculty member and one student that interviewed me (they took turns asking me questions). Why do you want to be a dentist? Are you happy with your DAT scores? What is your least favorite thing about dentistry? Which other schools did you apply to? What do you think will be your biggest challenge in dental school? Those were a few of the questions that they asked me that stuck out in my mind.. Hope that this helps. 🙂

One other question I had was Do you like to read books?...I had kinda prepared for other generic questions like why dentistry? but that "do you llike" question kinda threw me off a bit lol. Also, they asked me about my opinion on one of their programs which was introduced during the beginning of the interview. I was feeling lucky that I actually remembered some details of the program. Anyway, good luck with your interview. It was a pretty chilled interview for me.

I had interviewed last year at Maryland and now I am re-applying this cycle. I received an email stating the committee waived my interview because I previously interviewed and I am still considered an applicant for admissions. On my portal system it says I am invited for an interview as my status and if I want to visit the facility again they said I can set up an appointment. Has this ever happened to anyone? ALso, do u think this is a bad sign?
