Has anyone heard back from UM yet? My interview was 11 days ago but it feels more like 11 years!

Any previously accepted students have any insight on how long it usually takes to hear back?

How did your interview go? Mine was a 1 on 1 yesterday and was super laid back. As far as waiting time goes they told me anytime between 3 weeks until March 🙁

Mine was also very laid back but very long, I actually felt pretty good about it though!

Last year, I had my interview at the end of October and didn't hear back until the end of November. However, one of my classmates that had the same interview as me didn't hear back until March.

Greeeeat. Any correlation between people with really high stats getting acceptances sooner?

Do you remember if you got an email or just a letter? I live in a big apartment building and I'm never home so I'm worried if they send a certified letter it'll get held up... I worry a lot 😛

I'm not sure about stats. I know my classmate that got his acceptance later had good stats though, because he got into some schools that I didn't. So I'm not sure how that works. They send an email first and then mail out a letter.

Just wanted to bump the thread and see if there was any movement this past week!

I had my interview this past Friday. All I can think about is if I did alright. I was pretty nervous.

I also had my interview last Friday! It was a fun day, but in my opinion, I wouldn't mind if I didn't hear back for 3-4 weeks since I'll only have 7 days to reply with my decision once I find out!

Not me, I'm ready to go with UM as soon as they let me in! 😛

I was nervous too but felt instantly better once my interviewer started talking. It really was just a conversation like everyone said it would be. Hopefully we all find out soon!

Lol! I was impressed by the students and their opinion of the program. My interview went well, too. I wasn't nervous at all!

i feel like my interview went very well too! it was super laid back, even laughed and digressed into a conversation about traveling! however, I will have to admit that I actually enjoyed FIU's facilities more than UM's facilities...but then again all I was shown was the third and fifth floors (even though the fifth was only faculty offices). What are your guys thoughts about the facilities at UM?

FIU did have very nice facilities. But there tuition just went up over 10k. I wonder why they need a state of the art mock hospital with realistic human dummies instead of making it affordable... It's a state school!

UM has very very basic facilities and it looked like old equipment. Those floors are really it as far as I know. That's fine with me though, I'll get plenty of time with awesome equipment in clinicals and such. I'm much more interested in how I fit in with the school culture etc. than the facilities. I really like how UM is separated from the other health professions, the other students seemed to like that.

I wasn't overwhelmed by the facilities at UM either, but the students who attend didn't seem to mind. The only thing I was questionable about was the fact that they need to go downtown for certain classes (I believe that's what they said but correct me if I'm wrong?).

Yes, they go downtown to the medical campus for the whole first semester to take anatomy. My understanding is that that is the only time they use the med campus.

Another student told me they might be moving the program onto the campus (therefore having nicer stuff) but I wouldn't bank on that happening while any of us are in attendance there.

Hey ems7, how do you know you will only have 7 days to reply? Is it that short for everyone or does it depend when your interview is? and whats the deposit for UM?

Also I just called the PT office today and they told me its not rolling admissions so the interview date I choose doesn't have an effect on my chances (because going to the later January interview is the only one I can really work out flying from Illinois)... obviously based on this thread that's not true!!

Hello! When I went for my interview they gave us a piece of paper that said once we are notified we will have 7 days to reply. As far as the deposit is concerned, I have heard it is 500$.

- From what I was told, there is very little chance a move to the med campus occurs. There have been rumors of a move for a number of years. Never happened and probably never will.

- Gross Anatomy and the occasional observation at one of the hospitals will be the only times you are on/around the med campus.

- UMPT is essentially the 3rd floor of Plumer. It definitely could use a facelift, but part of me still loves those ugly ass couches in the lobby.

i also had my interview last friday (nov 1). campus was pretty nice and loved the area-- faculty and students were also great.

this was my 2nd interview and was a lot more relaxed. i hope to get in bc it's now my top choice.

i thought UM is rolling admissions...at least it says so on their website. If you got an interview I honestly do not think it will slim down your chances of getting in, cuz then everyone would just choose the earliest date! The reason for this thinking is because they did tell me that it could take anywhere from 3 weeks after the interview all the way until March so unless you blow them out of the water I think they will take quite a few people into consideration until they make decisions

I was also told they use a ranking system where each part of your app gives you a rank and then the people with the highest numbers are offered admission. So maybe they let in people who are obviously at the top then people who fall in the middle are held to be compared once more interviews are done? Who knows!

Also how was everyone dressed?

I have my interview next week and i'm really nervous

Around the campus and the building

Just wear a suit! Most (maybe all) of the guys at mine were wearing suits, about half of the girls were... not. Just wear a suit.

was your interview a group one? I'm wondering why everyone else had a group interview while I had a 1 on 1...not sure what to think of this -.- lol

Are you local? Most local students get solo interviews. I guess because a lot of the interview was about selling Miami.

Do you guys even know if they have accepted anyone at all yet...apparently nobody on SDN so far?

One girl posted in the regular PT forum that she was accepted, that's the only one I know of. I know two other people who applied and they haven't heard anything at all.

Anyone hear anything yet? The admissions committee is supposed to meet this week so hopefully we hear good need soon!

Where did you hear that they were reviewing candidates this week?

Does anyone know what the expected class size for 2014 is?

I hope they tell some people soon! Since I am pretty sure they are not doing any interviews right now.

Does anyone know what the expected class size for 2014 is?

If I remember correctly, the Class of 2016 has 56 students. When I asked my interviewer about class size, she said it would most likely be around that number.

I am dying to hear back from UM. It's such a great school and everyone was genuinely nice. And of course the location is supreme.

Good luck all..

During my interview they told the group they weren't interviewing in December, so I'm hoping that means a big round of decisions will go out soon!!

Not yet, I was told they were reviewing applicants over the next week or two, and we should hear notification shortly.

I heard that from the department. I called for another reason, and was told without asking about the time frame. I'm pretty sure it was Jhelane I spoke with when I called.

Oh ok, hopefully they choose soon!

From looking at past threads it seems like they're really late this year.... but at my interview they said they got twice as many apps as usual.

I was looking for the UM DPT Facebook page and found a class of 2017 Facebook group with ~10 people in it so they must have sent out some decisions. Man is this whole thing stressful!

I'm pretty sure those are from earlier interview rounds.

I'm pretty sure those are from earlier interview rounds.

I'm pretty sure I was in the first group (10/18) or at least I haven't heard of anyone interviewing earlier than that. I'm trying to take deep breaths and be patient 😛

I was emailed earlier today that I've been invited for an interview for either Tuesday or Thursday of next week.
