I had my interview yesterday🙂. I loved the program and hope I get accepted. The interview was very laid back and relaxed. They just try to get to know you. They told us a decision would be made by March. That sucks, but it is what it is. I also spoke with several of the students and one of the current students interviewed last year in October and was accepted in March. One student interviewed in November and was accepted in five days. So there is no way to put a date on hearing anything.

i don't think they will had interview 200-250 by then, remember they have interviews in the spring as well... They just said they will be making the first round of decision based on the people that has had interviews up to that point... Also remember there are going to be a good chunk that if they are not rejected or accepted right away go back in the pool to be compared to the next round... Fingers crossed!

Yea I know they won't have interviewed all the applicants at this point. I just hope they don't expand to more than 200-250 interviews seeing as it is a large applicant class. It's already hard enough to be accepted and expanding the field would only worsen the odds lol 🙁 but I'm staying positive. The professor I interviewed with said he anticipated I would be accepted, so I suppose that's worth something…

Wow, that's a really nice comment... Who did you interview with?... Mine only question my ability to make it in the program because of my GRE score, like having a good performance in a master's degree didn't mean anything... Anyways... I hope I have a good outcome like you... Good luck

Pre-req GPA - 3.59
GRE - v: 152 q: 153 a: 4.5
Observation Hrs.- 200 in 5 different settings
Tri-Beta National Sciences Honor Society, presented research at the Ohio Physiological Society Annual Conference
Played and coached college baseball
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

Applied to around 12 schools

Accepted: University of Maryland at Baltimore, Azusa Pacific

Interviews: Miami, University of Maryland at Baltimore, Azusa Pacific, University of New England (declined interview)

Rejections: Ohio University (due to taking a exercise physiology at a community college when they require it be at a 4 year school)

I personally thought my resume was fairly average but the professor said I was a strong applicant and based on previous classes I will probably be accepted, but I'm skeptical lol and this waiting is killing me. Miami is by far and away my top choice.

What sort of opportunities do you think having being a CSCS will provide you as a DPT? I am considering going for a CSCS as well but don't know how much it would actually do.

It is good to have if you are thinking of going into sports PT and gives you a good understanding of what goes into developing strength/conditioning programs and how to structure them, goes into the principles of muscle contraction and energy systems. Honestly a large reason why I decided to get my CSCS other than wanting to go into sports PT was that many PT schools offer courses that end with taking the CSCS test, so I thought it would enhance my application by already having it. Plus I know a few people in PT school that have their CSCS or other personal training certification and spend a few hours a week training people to earn a little money.

I have 2 degree, both from tuskegee university
M.S. In public health with a GPA 3.75
B.S. In biology GPA 3.33
Ptcas overall GPA 3.4
Ptcas pre req GPA 3.64
GRE verb 151 qut 150 w 3.5
Observation hours (150 outpatient/ortho, 20 in patient hospital, 40 geriatrics)
Extra curricular: tons of honor societies (national research honor society, national science honor society, national leadership honor society, national academic honor society, national allied health honor society), awards with my thesis research in public health/neuro toxicology (1st place biomedical symposium, 2nd place alabama academy of science), student-athlete my entire undergrad (tennis...played number 1 doubles and singles, won 2 championships and team captain), tennis scholarship (100%) all my undergrad years, director of a peer tutor/Mentoring program at school, Graduate assistant in biomedical science dept (another toxicology research), I currently work as a pt tech in a pt clinic (geriatrics)... I speak Spanish, I'm from chile

Idk what else could be relevant, and yeah I applied mid-end of August... And I'm loosing my mind

Well if I'm a strong candidate I would assume you are too. Who knows though, all we can do is wait out this torture lol

Admissions commette meeting first week of December to decide on everybody that has been on interview day up to that point.... Decision will be made shortly after then and mailed... Got that info today from admissions. Hope this helps, because I have been loosing my mind... They said the delayed has been due to the large amount of applicants this year.

This program is pretty well known to take their time on decisions. Im honestly not expecting a peep until March.
 
I have my interview on Jan 16! I'm also thinking of doing some sightseeing while I'm there since it is quite far away from where I am. Any suggestions about the interview or the city?
 
Well it looks like they've started accepting students. There is a Facebook group UM dpt class of 2018 with 11 members...

They have a Facebook page. They've accepted around 20 so far. I'm guessing they accepted the people they wanted from the first few groups to interview.
 
Only 14 accepted, the rest work t the school or are from previous classes,,,, this waiting game is getting ridiculous
 
Also was informed of my acceptance today! This is my first choice so I am ecstatic!
 
Anyone who has been accepted to Miami and added to Facebook page, how were you added and how long after being accepted. I was accepted a week ago and would like to get added to the page and look for roommates
 
When you search for the UM DPT Class of 2018 page, there is a button on the right side of the screen that you will say Join Group. Jhelane will add you sometime soon after that.
