University of Minnesota pharmacy?

I got a letter in the mail today saying "your high PCAT score make you a good candidate for admission" is this really true or do they send these letters out to everyone? They are ranked third in the country for pharmacy so I was shocked that they sent me a letter. Did anyone else get a letter from them?

They probs are reviewing today with the admission committee and sending the decisions out by next week at the latest. I am anxious too good luck!

I got 98PCAT no letter was sent to me. but got waitlisted. so sad

Hi guys,
I am in a similar situation. I got into the Twin Cities Campus of University of Minnesota and the Chicago Campus of UIC. I am not sure which school to choose. Minnesota is ranked number three in the country and based on their curriculum they seem to prepare their pharmacists very well. I am also interested in the joint PharmD/MPH which is only offered at UMN but that's not a deal breaker. Tuition is about $13000 cheaper/year at UIC as I am in state but I really got a good feeling about Minnesota. UIC is highly ranked as well and they're number 4 in research funding. Both are good programs but not sure which one would give me the best opportunities after graduation. I will probably be moving down south to Florida after school so the school that would give me the best chance opportunities after graduation would be the one I want to choose. Any pros or cons that you guys could provide would help tremendously

I have met folks from both. I think Minnesota would be my choice. There are really no downsides there. The students seem happier and it seems like a better city to spend 4 years in. The people I met from UIC were really quiet about their program, which is kind of a red flag.

Hey i saw umn was 3 top pharm school but metriccs was peer review dean, faculty. Do u think us news world report accurate? Its in a big city? But isnt mn in middle nowhere usa. ? How did u like umn to uf? Or anyone.?

I don't know much about the school. But I lived in both area so I can speak about the life experience. Minnesota is a small city. Life experience won't be as diverse as chicago. Restaurant is Amazing at Chicago. Traffic is bad but the light rail will take u to anywhere. Uic located near the little Italian town. It is very safe compare to uc campus. There is a big hospital nearby called the rush hospital. School is not far from downtown. The train ride will take around 15 min to the center of the city. If I were u, I probably will pick uic. The experience living in the second largest city in America is incomparable to anything where else.

Life experience prob won't be as important as educational quality. But if school can provide almost the same resource, and they r similar in ranking, tuition. I will decide based on life quality. After all it is where I will spend four years of my life . I want to study hard and enjoy stuff outside the school too.

I think I'm going to choose UIC. I'm not sure if the difference in their rankings and $13000 more per year in tuition will translate into a better job. They are both well respected programs world wide so I'm thinking getting my degree from either will offer similar opportunities.
