I was fortunate to receive an admission from three schools today but I literally can not decide since all of them were so nice when I visited the school.
I am Canadian student so the tuition is almost same for me.
Can anyone please share your opinions?

Thanks a lot in advance🙂

I was wondering too (udm/minn), also Canadian.... From what I've heard both great schools. Different living areas though so that may be a deciding factor. And congrats fellow canuck!

Please explain how tuition is almost the same when Temple's tuition is significantly lower than Minnesota's.

For the record, Temple all the way.

Thanks! And congrats for you too🙂
Which school are you leaning toward?

That is what I thought but the student at Temple during the tour told me that the living expense is higher during my tour:S ( that is why I assumed the financial aspects are not gonna be a deciding factor..)
What do you like about Temple specific?

Minneapolis> detroit+philadelphia

the online downside is the cold weather...but I am sure that's not a problem for you since you are Canadian..

if temple is cheaper go there

Minneapolis has less crime than Philly and a LOT less crime than Detroit. Weather will be roughly the same 99% of the time with a few days in MN being very cold. Contrary to AVB2104's assumption, not all of Canada is cold 🙂.

Other than the weather and living condition, how is Minnesota as dental school? Like their strength? (During the interview all three of them emphasized their clinical education and how they are all rounded and stuffs.. So I can't seem to see any drawbacks from them:S )

Temple is great. If you have any questions let me know, I just graduated from there.

UDM is awesome, but I think your student experience could be better in other cities where the entire student population is centrally located. Students at UDM live in several areas, thus breaking them up. I spent the last two years basically living with University of Michigan dental students, so i compare other schools the student experience here. They really had a blast. The student experience is only part of the decision process, but i think it's a very important one. You'll never have this opportunity again.

As someone with Minnesota as their top choice I'm a bit biased but they are really great with clinic. They have you in the clinic first year now and they have a lot of outreach 10-15 weeks and that allows you to experience real world dentistry. They also have Union Gospel Mission on Tuesday and Wednesday nights to practice more in a real world setting (does not count as outreach). The big plus is because the Oral Surgery residents take up a lot of extractions (issue at many schools) so you can go practice at UGM and extract lots of teeth so you can feel more confident when you get to practice. Also the students are all really close and helpful and the Twin Cities are amazing. There is always something going on and we have lots of cool bars and restaurants. We also have lots of awesome breweries so if you like beer you are in luck!

This is strictly my opinion, and I respect everyone else's opinion about these schools as well, but mine is quite different.
From what i understand the clinic at Minnesota isn't that great? (I've glanced at the clinical requirements for all schools and UDM and Temple are greater than Minnesota) Even the person giving me the tour said that she didn't feel confident enough so she HAD to do outreach programs. The outreach programs are great, along with the outreach programs at any school. That I believe is a given. But i'd expect the actual clinic provided by the school to give you enough experience to feel that you're confident. Temple and UDM both have better clinics in my opinion. I understand the area they are situated in isn't the most ideal, but this is where clinics thrive (more extractions and surgeries). Everyone in Temple and UDM said that they were confident with their experience at their school, and not everyone went to an outreach program. All schools have great facilities, and if environment is a deciding factor for you, then its important to look at the actual city itself.

Im having difficulty choosing between Temple and UDM and if anyone has opinions on these two schools i'd love to discuss it
