Hey guys,
Can anybody comment on the pros/cons of the transitional year that is included in the University of Minnesota Radiology program.
Thanks for any input.

The year is quite busy but not too bad. Pros include 2 months of radiology (during which you actually get to do some dictation) as well as the fact that you will really know how to care for patients when you're done. Cons include many months with Q4 call, cold weather. Did you match there?

Thanks for responding.
Yes I did match there, and am very excited about the program, except I have no information about the TY. Is it an overnight call q4? Which rotations are the worst? How is the atmosphere in the department(s)? What are the average hours in different services?
Thanks again.

Most people at HCMC are very friendly and easy to work with. Yes, call months are q4 overnight. Hours, as would be expected, vary quite dramatically from service to service. Surgery months often push the 80 hour work week.
