Just got an email today saying I am on the alternate list, and that they would have a better idea of my position number on the 27th. Did anyone else get this or receive notification of admissions today? I don't know how my chances are as an alternate, I hope the waiting game isn't too long! 🙁

I got a call from them on Monday that I was accepted to the program. They wanted an official response by the 24th, so probably just waiting to hear back from everyone before they do the second round. Everyone I met during the interview process was so qualified, it must have been a long couple of days for them to make their first round of choices that soon. Good luck!

Have you heard anything yet? I was put on the alternate list as well. They said they would be able to tell us where we are after Monday the 27th. I tried to call today but had to leave a message.

I haven't heard anything, I emailed Kathy early yesterday asking if I could get an update on my position and haven't heard back. I was going to try and call today and see if I had better luck but maybe I won't since calling didn't even work for you! I had to submit a deposit somewhere else to hold a spot but kind of wish I could have known what my chances were of getting in to Montana before I mailed it. Still holding out hope!

I finally got ahold of Kathy today and she said that I was in the "range" of positions 1-10, which I guess means I could be #1 or #10 or anywhere in-between? Does anyone know how many alternates Montana has gone through in the past? I'm not sure if the next time I call if they'll just tell me the same range or if I've moved up a couple spots, I wish we could just get an actual position :/

I just called. I am in the top 10 too. Aghhh I wish they could just give me a more specific number! Did she tell you why they only give a range and not a specific number?

She didn't say and I didn't ask, I'm just wondering if the 1-10 range is as low as it goes? Or like if we move up if she'll then say 1-5 range? It sucks because then you don't really know if you're moving up or not, maybe we don't get a specific number because we weren't individually ranked and they just placed the alternates in groups? I'm just going to assume I am #10 and pray for 9 more to drop.

I just got accepted off the waitlist! I hope you hear back soon! I called again this morning to ask if there were any updates. Kathy said that they were still waiting to hear back from 3 accepted candidates that had been given an extension on the deposit deadline. Then, this afternoon the program director called me to tell me that I had been accepted. If you really want to go to Montana, I would highly recommend calling weekly to let them know that you really want to attend. I heard that sometimes schools give a range on the waitlist so they have some flexibility to choose those candidates that show a real interest in the program.

Oh congrats! I will definitely call tomorrow, I hope I can get in, it's my top choice!

Does anyone know if obtaining residency after the first year of the program is possible in Montana? It appears not to be with the requirement of taking no more than six credits during the 12-month waiting period, but I wonder if the situation is different if you have a spouse working full time and relatives in Missoula. Such is my case. Can't risk paying out of state for three years though, so if anyone knows more about this I would appreciate hearing from you.
