I was wondering, does 3rd tier people really have more of a disadvantage compared to the 1st and 2nd tier people? I sent in my app so I could meet the 2nd tier but then I had an incomplete file so I think I will be considered as a 3rd tier now...are there any UOP people who applied during 3rd tier and got interviews?

Thanks in advance!

3rd tier is bit more of a disadvantage, hence why the application is tiered. UOP looks at applications as they're received. They'll look at 3rd tier applications, but if they find there's a better applicant in an earlier tier (1/2), they'll select that applicant.

I sent my application in the 3rd tier last year and they didnt even look at it. I tried to make it for the 2nd tier but my appl was incomplete and when I got everything together, it was considered 3rd tier. I guess once they are done selecting the candidates, they will disregard the late applications. But send everything as early as possible.

Hi all! I'm new to this forum and so far I find it quite helpful. Thanks!

I'm also applying for fall 2006. I tried to make it in to the second tier for UOP too, but it was right on the due date. They haven't looked at my application yet since they haven't received my PharmCAS =( I'm so worried about it.

Hey Pete. So how's UOP joint program? I really really want to do that. Any advice? Please? =D

btw, i really like these smiles 😀

I also applied third tier last year.. and whenever I called the admissions office, they kept saying that they hadn't looked at it yet. A week later.. I got my rejection letter. So I feel like they don't really look at third tier people - they get a lot of apps each year. But who knows, I'm sure that someone from third tier got accepted.

Wow, that really sucks!

I heard they got swamped with applications last year. I believe that's why they changed their tier deadlines this year. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't last year's tier 1 deadline on September 1st? This year it was August 1st. I guess they're anticipating another huge influx of apps this year. Hopefully these new deadlines will allow them to at least review some of the 3rd tier applicants.

Good luck ya'll!

They did change the dates of the tiers by a month earlier.

They don't look at third tier applicants? 😱 So the deadline for submitting all application materials should (technically) be Sept 1st instead of the Nov. 1st that they say!?

I think I might me 3rd tier too.... 🙁

Honestly, I don't want to waste my time. Is it worth applying now? It's not my top school, and the deadline is fast approaching, but if third tier hardly gets even glimpsed...

I didn't know the tier deadlines had changed... maybe they'll look at more third tier people now. I still think that you should apply, you never know unless you try. 🙂

I would still recommend applying. You never know. Though they changed their tier guidelines, it doesn't change the fact that more 3rd tier applications will be reviewed. 3rd tier applications are viewed as "at the bottom of the pile" and will be reviewed if time allows. The guidelines were changed most likely due to Pacific receiving so many applicants.

Don't get discouraged if you get rejected. I can't stress enough to start your application process early. If you applied late this year, let it be a learning experience. Make the most of it.

Outside of UoP, what other pharmacy schools in CA have the tier system? Anyone know?

Hmm.. well not exactly a set "tier" system, but aside from UCSF/UCSD, they all have some form of rolling admissions.

What is this tier business at UOP?? I never heard about it; I just e-submitted my PharmCAS apps today, and haven't started on supp. apps, does that mean I'm on 3rd tier, and they prob won't look at my app, cuz then there's relaly no point in filling out the supp. app. Thanks.

UOP divides the date in which applications are received into three tiers. According to the UOP school web site, the dates for each tier are as follow:
· Tier 1 - Applications completed between July 1 and August 1
· Tier 2 - Applications completed between August 2 and September 1
· Tier 3 - Applications completed September 2 through November 1
You are obviously in third tier. Usually, Tier 1 and 2 applicants are given more favorable consideration since they submitted their applications earlier. I think the tier dates are changed this year to give the adcom a chance to review more third tier applications, so just submit your supp app if you have it finished. Good luck.

usc is rolling admission

Awww. :scared: You guys are making me worried...uop is my first choice and the school I want to go to, but even though I sent my supplemental in August, PharmCAS sent my application supposedly September 1st after haggling with them to send it, and I e-submitted in July too ....PharmCAS screwed me 😡...now I'll never get in2 UOP 🙁 🙁 🙁
