I've heard you need to be fluent in Spanish and possibly have some ties to PR.

I'm a med student there. What would you like to know?

my grandparents live in rio grande puerto rico, and i am also 1/2 puerto rican, i was curious as to whether you must be fluent in spanish inorder to attend the dental school, and also do they accept the american DAT?

I was mainly curious to see how nice the facilities and how good the faculty are. I was also curious to know what percent of the students actually come form Puerto Rico. My grandmothers from there and went to the University of Puerto Rico for undergrad. Im not really sure how competative it is because I cant find the stats anywhere.

there stats are in the new edition from ADA, last year i'm pretty sure they had about 150 applicants and they took about 50 or so
On the other, hand all of the applicants were hispanic, you can also be 1/2 puerto rican like myself to be considered hispanic when applying to the school, I recently e-mailed their admissions office to see how they base "PR ties" as they refer to it on their admissions page. Basically you must be from puerto rico, or have family members who live their. Otherwise it is not very competitive, overall DAT 15, and a 2.6 GPA. The dental school is quite nice and since it is accredited you know your getting the education you deserve, lats but not least tutition is 7k per year, romm and board is 8k, and overall 100k for all 4 years. SUPER CHEAP!!!! for warm whether and a ton of patients to get experience

It's a good school, highly competitive, and unless you're from the island your chances of admission are close to zero.

Thats not exactly true. As I said before I am a med student there, but I have more than a few friends in the dental school. They tell me that the school actually reserves a few seats for mainland applicants. I cant say the exact number, as it changes year to year. But if you are from the US and want to apply by all means do it. You wont lose much.

so what was the word on the languages used in classes there? is it in spanish, english, both?

I wouldn't apply to Michigan with those stats if you are out of state. Just some honest advice trying to save $ Good luck!

cool... so, if my grandma lives there and my dad was born/raised there, i could have a pretty good shot at getting accepted there?
