I interviewed at URI last Friday and was actually very impressed with what they had to offer. I know they arent one of the "top notch" schools, but I was surprised at how organized they were. The facilities werent bad, the tuition is one of the lowest on the east coast, the housing on campus and off campus is cheap, the surrounding area is both safe and nice and the curriculum is well planned.

Basically just posting to see if anyone else interviewed at any of their sessions and what they thought about it. If there are some people on here that interviewed, would you attend?

Also, are there any current students from URI that browse these forums that can offer some insight?

I originally had been focused on other schools, but after interviewing the faculty, staff, and the school itself really caught my attention. Kind of threw a bit of a wrench in things if I were to receive an acceptance letter.

I visited last Saturday and had the same impression as you - I was impressed, and at the moment, it's definitely among my top choices.

Hi,

Yea, I agree with both of you. I absolutely love URI. Have either of you recieved any correspondence since your interview?

Thanks

They called me a couple days ago to offer me a slot. Good luck!

That's great news. Congratulations! I haven't heard anything at all and it'll be about 5 weeks on Saturday since the interviews. Have you accepted the position?

Thanks! I am leaning towards accepting, but I've been wait-listed at my top school, so I'm going to wait a little longer before officially deciding.

Beesfan, do you mind sharing some of your stats? Or what was their interview like? I havent seen too much on these forums about URI yet. Thanks!

The URI interview day was done in small groups. We met a few students, met with the clinical coordinator and department chair, and had a tour. We also had a short one-on-one interview with a faculty member that was pretty informal. The whole thing took about 2 hours. I came away with a good impression of the program.

I'm sorry, but I can't remember my stats off the top of my head. I did my undergrad degree in sociology and took science prerequisites at community college. I think my sciences GPA was somewhere around 3.6 and my overall GPA was right around there too. I work

Beesfan, have you started yet? If so, how do you like it so far? I'm really interested in URI and I was impressed when I toured there this spring. Just curious to hear about the program from any current students out there!

I didn't end up attending URI. I'm at UConn and am happy with my choice so far.

I just got an interview for University of Rhode Island. Anyone know what I should plan on going into it? What type of questions should I expect to be asked and what should I ask?

From what I remember, you meet with a few students, and get a tour of the facilities. I had a one-on-one meeting with one of the faculty members, and it was the standard interview - why are you interested in PT, tell me a little about your background, why URI, that kind of thing. I don't remember what questions I asked.

Hope this helps!
