I'm still waiting for a reply from the University of Scranton. I added them to my designations November 9th. Shouldn't I have at least received a receipt saying that they received my application by now?

I applied there last cycle and was rejected but I was missing the Gen Bio 1 and 2 prerequisites and only had one semester left so I can understand. I wouldn't have had all the prerequisites done in time.

Should I call them and find out what's up?

Also they don't have rolling admission so how did you hear back from them? I thought schools that said "no" to rolling admission don't make decisions until after the application deadline which is in February.

When did you apply to Scranton and when did you receive the letter?

Hmm. I applied in early November also (November 9 to be exact) so I should be getting a response soon. I'll call them tomorrow.

Chances all depend on the size of external applicants they are planning to take in this year... My girlfriend met with them last year and they only accepted 6 students out of 600 applicants... Which is honestly ridiculous ... and reason why I didn't even bother with them... I would get in contact with them and ask how many students they are planning to accept externally... This will help judge your chances! I do think you are a very strong applicant in my eyes but obviously with the low acceptance rate this will be hard! You should have no problem getting into another school elsewhere!!

Hello, I was also waitisted. Recieved my letter today 01/07

Stats:

BA, Biological and Cultural Anthropology from University of Florida
cum GPA:3.65
prereq-3.27
-2,000+ observation hours working as a rehab tech, that includes shadowing at other varous settings such as general wellness and stroke wellness, neuro, pediatrics, australian physiotherapy, hippotherapy, ortho, acute care, geriatrics, and amputee specialists
-also have various other charity volunteer work, honors and medals that i think helped my application

Overall I was very suprised to get waitlisted because of my prereq GPA but I'm hoping they looked passed that and valued my experience and diversity

Good luck everyone!

Okay I got a response from University of Scranton today but it was just to tell me that my PTCAS application was complete. The email reads:

"Thank you for submitting an application to the DPT program at The University of Scranton through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). Your application is now complete as we have received the necessary documents to process your application. Please allow at least 4-6 weeks for the processing of your application by the department. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns."

It seems that they must have been waiting for me to acknowledge that I was taking the last 2 prerequisites. I still had the Bio 1 and 2 courses to complete and send them. Bio 1 I took this past fall semester. During the academic update I sent them my grade for Bio 1 (which by the way did not come in until Jan 1st) and I put that I had Bio 2 in progress for Spring 2013. Before that though, my application was missing any indication that I planned on taking either Bio 1 or Bio 2. Maybe that last part is why they only now just acknowledged my application as complete, as I completed my application months ago and added them to my designations in early November. I think had it been known that I had those prerequisites in progress, they would have acknowledged my application as complete a long time ago because I doubt it takes PTCAS 8 weeks to send applications to added schools. That mistake on my part was costly.

If you guys are getting waitlisted now, how can I have a chance in 4 to 6 weeks.

Hey, if I were you I would just call them. At this point the whole application process has been very up and down for me as well. And honestly, sometimes this website makes it worse because you expect a certain school to accept a certain type of application pool and then you see on this site people getting accepted/waitlisted/denied with stats that are all different. To me I think the admission committee at school ssimply see something in each applicant they accept or waitlist. Not to discourage you, but when I applied to Scranton I had Physics 2 and Chemistry 2 in progress and they completed my PTCAS application within days and it was less then a month that I got my waitlist letter. So, if I were you I would call the admissions coordinator, Melissa, and explain your situation. She's very helpful and nice and the admissions coordinators know more than they want you to think...don't let them full you.
