Just seeing if anyone else is on the wait-list at Univeristy of St. Augustine for the Summer of 2011... Or if anyone wants to share their wait-list experiences from previous terms that would be great!

I was following your posts when we were waiting to hear back from USA. I want to just extend a hug! I do think being 10 is still promising. Think about the people that may defer a semester to funds, may be accepted by another school they want to go to, etc etc. I think it may be very possible you still have a chance. Also all over these boards I hear if you are waitlisted you are automatically in the next semester??? That would just be Aug...3 months after. You could think of it as 3 extra months to work and get money saved before school starts. In addition, many other programs out there do not start until fall, so really it is not that big of a set back...IF this is where you want to go, think of the waitlist as your ticket in, you are no longer in the line...you have a ticket, and you will get in!

Create a vision board, and put it up every day of you getting exactly what you want. Remember that everything in life lines up exactly for your goodest good, you just don't know what that is yet, so it is quite frustrating. If you are near the school, go there often and show your dedication to the program.

Seriously, it it is true that you get automatic acceptance for Fall, consider this life requesting for you to have the extra 3 months to prepare. I am praying that that is the case, and if you don't get to attend Summer, then you automatically are in for Fall!!

:luck::luck::luck:

Thank you so much for your encouragement! I am sure you have seen me post about my concerns on just about every USA thread there is haha! I hate that I can't get a straight answer about the wait list- being in the next semester for sure- thing... EVERYone says different things, and the actual admissions people say it is no garauntee but it makes it much more probable... I am trying to be positive and certain that I am in for Fall I am just terrified to get my hopes up and be let down again... this is my only and number one school I want to go to and my second time applying so there is a lot riding on it! Thank you again for your kind words 🙂 Means a lot!🙂

Hey.. A friend of mine got told she was 15 th on the wait list and was reminded that they accept 3 classes a year.. Hang in there and keep the faith .. You are on your way.. This is just a bump in the road

Thank you! Dian actually informed me yesterday that I am already down to number 9 so that is a good thing also! Wow she has great stats also, that is surprising!

Ok...you have stated your mission..this is THE school! That is an awesome attitude any University wants in their students. If this is where you want to be, then create that vision board today!! I am sure you have many pictures of the campus and mailers they have sent you. This may sound silly, but it works.

Starting today...no more FEAR...you just think positive, and look at your vision. Do NOT be afraid to fail...it builds character, lol. You will need this type of character---- when you are treating, coaching, and motivating patients that do NOT think they can move, jump, walk, heal...trust me 😉

Do not be afraid to ask for what you want, and what you want to know. Be direct and professional. Remember USA prides on professionalism. You can let them know you are the best person for their program, without begging...its a fine line..trust me I have been there too! Let some time pass, as they are getting January class together, and finalizing acceptance issues for May. I would say by mid January. See if you can make an appointment with Dian, and show up very professional crisp clean suit, and let her know you are committed to their program, and you would like any feedback she can give you to be the best representation of their program.

Ask for guidance. This school is very approachable and everyone seems very helpful, and respectful. If they see your professionalism and sincerity, I can't imagine how you would not succeed.

For whatever reason, this process has been a character building lesson for you, do not think of it as a punishment, but a way for you to bust through the other side, and have a story for a person who will need that story to keep going. Being in the field of Rehab, and patient care, you need the drive these experiences teach you to be better at what you do.

Remember....do not carry Fear...carry determination, hope, perseverance, and tenacity. For you to attempt it twice, I am certain you have it in you. The power of positive thinking...and praying outweighs fear.

Try some of those practices and I am certain we will be at the same school at the same time 🙂

You are welcome...I see your passion and as I said it hurts today, but will serve you in the best ways you have not imagined.

You should quite possibly change your field of work to MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER! Hahaha I am honestly pumped up right now! I am quickly adopting the mindset you are explaining and looking at this as a positive thing and trying to only picture myself IN instead of mayyybe in! Do you think I should really try to meet with Dian personally? I really don't want to badger them and already email Erika Forrest a TON with questions, haha... That sounds like such a smart thing to do though if you don't think they would take it as being too pushy! They informed me I would know more in mid-January after the May deadline for saving seats so I am anxiously awaiting that before I plan any meetings! I can't say thank you enough though, you seriously have given me more hope than anyone else so far!

Yes I think you have a wise plan. I would even wait until late January or early February to contact them at all, unless they contact you first. You already know you are half way there, or possibly closer, so take comfort in that.

Spend from now until then focusing on what you want to happen, without the presence of fear or doubt. I know that is the hard part, but consider that most people get all worked up because they are applying to multiple schools entertaining multiple possibilities. The beauty of how you feel about your choice is that you don't have that pressure.

You can actually sit back and focus on the sound judgment you have made in finding the perfect school for you!

I don't know what else you have going on,...work, volunteering, or any more classes? etc. But just continue to do the things that make you feel stronger toward your dream. I enjoy the volunteering it reconfirms to me every time just how great I will be at OT! So if you have the time do more volunteering, possibly in various settings to add depth to your perspective on the field.

You are funny...yes I do enjoy to motivate, and help others work through things. I have had so many people, places, things do that for me...in form of teachers, books, patients, quotes,poems..lol I guess that is why I am going into rehabilitation.

Read Invictus by William Ernest Henley. It is a great piece to stir up motivation.

You have a great plan the hardest part is going to be to "let go, and let God" so to speak. You have done the AWESOME job of getting waitlisted at an AWESOME school. Pat yourself on the back...you did IT. Just let the next 6-8 weeks go by knowing that you did what you set out to do, you are not rejected, so all you have left to do is to be so very proud of your accomplishment....and let your positive visions and thoughts infiltrate doubt and fear 😉

just finishing up my first semester at USA and just want to let you know if you're on the wait list, congratulations! if you're on the waitlist and don't get in the semester you're waiting for, you're guaranteed admission into the next semester.

during my interview day, i asked the admissions committee multiple times about this and as of last February during the interview, all wait-list applicants are guaranteed admission. if you're not on the wait-list, you have to reapply.

so congratulations!

Really? If they told you that then that sounds very promising! I am just so worried about getting my hopes up and being let down but thank you for sharing, I see about 50% of people say that but the other 50% believe you are no gaurunteed so it's hard to know what to believe! Thanks!

I was waitlisted too and just found out I got in! I'm hoping you did too, but I just wanted to add that if you get waitlisted you do not get automatic admission to the next quarter. I was waitlisted at #8 (only 2 people declined so went down to #6), and then the next application period I was waitlisted at #2. I only want to mention that so other people who read this know that it's NOT a guaranteed deal because after I had read that I was pretty sad when I got waitlisted two times. I'm assuming at #10 for Summer quarter that you did get in since more people are applying to multiple schools for this start date (versus the Jan. class application was due in June when no other school apps were due).

Are you serious?! I hate hearing all of these different things, you are the first person that has had that experience of not getting in for the following semester 🙁 I am now 8th, I got the email yesterday. Congratualtions on your acceptance- I can't imagine how amazing that must feel. These past few months have been the most frustrating and emotional times. I was wanting to move down in April in with someone I know who is in for May and just work until September (if i knew that I was in for September), but now I don't even know when they will inform me of that :/ Still a lot of questions- and now even less hope after hearing your story, but thanks for sharing.

So it took you 3 semesters of waiting to get accepted? You initially appliesd for the September class of 2010 and just not got a spot? I guess it is good to know you eventually have the chance to get a spot...

For those of you who were waitlisted, would you mind sharing the semester you applied for and what your stats were (GRE and GPAs)? I'm looking at applying for the spring or summer 2012 term; however, my stats are only average. I am just curious as to where I stand.

Thank you so much for your time.

Niceday8, I know you wrote this a few months ago, but Crippeng is right. You are an incredible motivator. I am an extraverted, bubbly person, but I interview in 5 days and I am incredible nervous. Your responses have really help take some of that edge off. Thanks! 🙂

Yes that advice was very helpful! I am now 6th on the waitlist and will have the final update for the May class on the 28th... It doesnt look like I will be making it into that class but they mentioned that I would be notified if I make it into the Fall class by mid-March... I really really hope that I am far enough up the list to gain admission into the Fall class :/ I hear so many different peoples experiences from being waitlisted so I have no clue what to expect! Goodluck to all people interviewing soon! Maybe we will be together in class in September!
