Has anyone out there interviewed with the Universtiy of TN, Memphis? I have an interview there in about 2 weeks.    I am just wondering what sort of ?'s they ask, whats the stress level like, is it easy to find, etc.... Also I am interested in any general comments people might have about the school. Thanks

I interviewed there last year on Jan.23, I think. It was my feeling that they had pretty much filled their class and were looking for waitlist candidates at the time, as I knew several others that interviewed there within a week or two of that time and all got waitlisted. Don't worry, if you have an acceptance you won't care about UT-Memphis anyway. Memphis is the biggest $hithole of a town I have ever been to in my entire life. I knew when I pulled into the town that I couldn't see myself there for four to nine years. Just my opinion though. Your results may vary. I have a friend there that is a second year and he likes it, but it just didn't seem like the right place for me, even pre-waitlist notification. My advice to you: Enjoy UT-Knoxville while you can. It is a great school (graduated in spring 2002). I thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to move back to the Knoxville area in the future. Good luck with the med school thing though. Too bad UT's med school isn't in Knoxville, in my opinion.

I agree with you mongoose Memphis is the armpit of TN. It was recently voted as America's most unsafe city taking into account vehicular deaths, crimes against women, and some other criteria. The pole was performed by SELF magazine. The city also got second dirtiest in the US. However it has its fine points like Beal St., the Grizzlies, uh....... well I'm sure there are some more. Like you I love Knoxville, its a great town.

Incidentally, did you apply to U.Kentucky or U.Louisville or Cincinnati? Or just tennessee schools?

I applied to all the TN schools, GW, VCOM, NOVA, and PCOM. Some others also but I decided to withdraw from them before they reviewed my file so they wouldn't cash my checks which I couldn't cover.

I don't know anything about UT Memphis, but y'all are SO WRONG about Memphis. It is a very cool town. High crime, for sure....but it's still an awesome place. I could easily live there for a few years.... I was just too appalled when I read those "armpit" responses. Maybe it's just one of those "haven't been an adult long enough to see the world" kind of reactions. Not flaming anyone, but just thinking that those are some closed-minded responses. That's all.....

Peace~

I have definitely been an adult long enough to see that Memphis is a $hithole of a town. If you don't agree, that is fine. My opinion stands. It is probably the place I would least like to live of all the places I have ever seen.
