I recently spent a day at the UW S of D. I found it to be a somewhat disappointing experience. I had a Pharmacology professor for my interview and he seemed to act like he was forced to be there and was hardly interested in anything but going back to sleep. The group who had another interviewer seemed much happier. The interview is about 40 minutes, followed by the standard financial chat and tour. It was definitely laid back with one on one interviews. The UW has an impeccable reputation and academic credentials. However, it is much different than a private school feel. They will not be interested in recruiting you, they simply don't have to. I found it to be a sterile, grey environment. I hope that others have a better experience at UW and I am sure many have. It was my 3rd interview in 3 days so I was pretty spent. I know several students who go there and are very happy.
