anyone applied here?

Members don't see this ad.

I applied, thought it was interesting they had no supplemental. They received all of my stuff in early December, and I know their deadline was January 5th. Haven't heard anything from them yet. You?

do you know if they have even handed out invites for interviews?

Well I looked at this thread:
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=491790

And it looks like last year they were sending out rejection emails in late January (around the 30th) through the first few days in February. Looks like the first interview invites were emailed out around the 5th of February and some people got theirs closer to the 10th.
Seems like rejection emails start going out first, so we haven't heard from them this week or next, that might be a good thing? Just based off last year. Of course who really knows, lol. 😕🙄

I haven't heard anything still. I'm expecting to hear from them sometime next week, hopefully.

I got an interview invitation yesterday for the university of wyoming

I hope I get one...maybe on Monday. Either that or maybe there's a snail mail rejection on the way lol.

Best of luck to you all...I currently am a P1 at Wyoming, so perhaps I will see you at some point during your interviews. Feel free to ask questions if you wish.

Hey Pillcrusher, congratulations on the interview. My interview is on the 6th as well so I guess I will see you there. Thank you ernievdb for offering us help. I was just curious, what was PCAT score and GPA. I am just worried about it. If that is too much to ask that is cool.

IrishOats, I see from your signature that that you got a rejection letter from University of Wyoming, (if I understand your sig correctly) did they give you any reason why? I am just trying to figure out where they place their priorities for interviewing and accepting students.

Hey there Strawhead....no, they didn't give a reason. My stats are 3.24 GPA, BS in biochemistry I will be receiving this June, and an 88 PCAT composite, above 70 in all categories. The rejection (came via email) was pretty generic....a typical "we had lots of qualified applicants, only 50 spots...blah blah thanks for your interest in our program". If I hadn't gotten accepted anywhere else, then I would probably ask them why, but I don't really care haha. I'm a Colorado resident, so I thought being in a neighboring state might help, but I guess not. Then again 50 spots is a very small class size. *shrug*

Overall GPA 3.3, will receive B.S. in biology this may. PCAT score 71 overall (terrible lol). 2 years expierence as a pharmacy tech. and an independent compounding pharmacy.

Oxyfreshness:

I was accepted with a 3.56 GPA and a 78 PCAT. I am from Iowa and I did not do my undergrad here. I didn't have a degree, but I had taken a good number of upper level biology and chemistry classes. I also had 4 summers of pharmacy experience. Best of luck with your interviews everyone.

Thanks for the information ernievdb! I am still very worried about my PCAT score because of the fact that it was only a 64 🙁. I am hoping that a 3.9 GPA with a prerequisite GPA of 4.0 will make them overlook that. I also only have 2 years of college under my belt as well as only 2 years of working as a pharmacy technician. My application was good enough to get me an interview but I am worried that I am going to have to rock my interview to even stand a chance at get accepted this year. I was just wondering how many questions they asked about current events in pharmacy, and if they did ask a lot, where did you do research those current events? I have been trying to look for a good journal to really get the major issues going on in pharmacy but I cannot find anything that really seems good. I was also wondering if you thought that the ethical questions were difficult or not? Did you interview other places last year? If so, how did Wyoming's compare with other interviews? Thank you for your time and help on this one.

oxyfreshness...I wouldn't worry about how long you've been in school or your experience. I know several people in my class that have only 2 years of school. Also I know some with very minimal pharmacy experience. I don't really have an answer as to what the lowest PCAT accepted was, however I wouldn't count you out. I interviewed at South Dakota State University, Creighton University and here. In my opinion, Wyoming was my favorite interview experience. The people involved are quite laid back and inviting. Also, the actual interview will vary depending who is giving it, but on a whole it was the most laid back of my three interviews. As for the current pharmacy questions, the only one I remember was your opinion of the current healthcare system. I think they are more looking at how you answer and how sure of yourself you are. A good website to look at: www.pharmacistsletter.com That has all your current pharmacy info, however it would take a long time to review everything on there and I don't think it would be all that important. For the ethical questions, just be sure not to flip-flop your answers. I didn't find them to hard. Two they asked: What would you do if you saw a classmate cheating? & If you were the teacher, and a student missed an exam, would you let them take it later? Another thing: ask the people you have lunch with...they are all pharmacy students and can also give you some pointers. Best of luck!

When is Wyoming supposed to get back to the applicants about admission status. I thought it was today but have yet to receive an email. It was supposed to be by email right.

I got a accepted via email today but will not send in a deposit because i have chosen to attend Washington State University in the Fall. Good luck to those waitlisted and i hope this opens a spot for you.

Well i guess it doesn't matter because I got accepted to university of southern nevada tonight so good luck to everyone else!

I got my acceptance email today which is awesome! The thing is I thought that I did bad on my interview, so bad that I thought that I was not getting in. I was very happy when I read the email! I guess my grades were good enough to carry me in! Good luck to everybody on the wait list!

Glad I could help, Congrats!

Strawhead: If I may ask, what number are you on the waitlist? Also was/is Wyoming your first choice or was Southern Nevada a higher choice?

they didn't give me a number for the waitlist. I guess they would have when I sent the paper back in. USN was number 1 so that I wouldn't have to move. The cost of USN really scares me though.

So I got a reject email in January, but now things have come full circle in June and I've been invited to interview.

Not sure if I will as I've been accepted to 3 schools already and I have deposited with Southern Nevada.

Just thought it was interesting...they must be having a hard time getting to there number of 52 students

That is absolutely insane! I thought it was odd when I was accepted without even sending back paperwork saying I wanted to be placed on their waitlist, but performing interviews this late in the game is absurd.
