Unlimited scrap papers during DAT ?

I use alot of scrap paper during Reading, and Math ( I use around 4 papers )

Can I ask to have new one and is it very easy to ask ? or I should raise my hand for like 10mins and the person give it to me very slowly ..

you can only have 2 papers at a time and raise your hand if you need more...how fast they bring it to you depends how nice they are lol

Where are you guys taking your DAT's? Every center in Oklahoma and the surrounding states use the laminated sheets! I HATE the laminated sheets and have been trying to find a testing site that still uses paper.

what do you write down when you are doing the reading? I find myself just looking over the passages without taking any notes. Any tips on how to change this?

My strategy was to read the passage quickly (80% skim/20% read), just so I had an idea of where things were and to get an overall sense of tone. I would then use search and destroy (which was relatively easy since I had an idea where things were).

Taking notes is probably overkill.

and with Pen, NOT THE MARKER

why do they HAVE TO give us MARKER ??

I don't really understand why they treat like this.

Has anyone ever taken a wet paper towel (from the test center's bathroom or wherever) and used that to erase the wet erase markers? That seems like an obvious solution, but I've never taken the test before.

Ya, getting new laminated papers during the break is the best way to go as far as time is concerned.

And ya the grid is only on one side of the laminate...its really not that big of a deal unless u really prefer all blank. One tip about using the markers tho, when u first put the marker to the laminate, hold it there for a quick sec before u start writing so the ink catches the laminate. The markers are VERY fine tip so its not much different then writing with a real pen.

Honestly, the paper and markers should be the last thing you are stressing about lol focus on those practice problems

When I took my DAT, I had to raise my hand for like 8 minutes until someone noticed.The lady took her dear sweet time to walk over and exchange scrap boards. I suggest you write small so as to make the paper last, and be wise about what you need to write so you don't waste time. Also, wet paper towels are not allowed...you're NOT allowed to even try to erase anything.

So you're saying they would take exception to breathing on it and rubbing it with your sleeve? Sounds more fascist than I would have expected.

btw mine was not a wet erase marker. they make you use permanent markers now

Search and destroy, to me, means something like you described. I would try and read the passage quickly at first to get help guide where you search so you arent constantly rescanning the entire passage to find the answer to a question. Hopefully that helps.
