Hey all,

I have an interview for an alternate list this coming Thursday. I am discouraged to get this interview invitation in December and from then I was invited only for the alternate list...weird!!!! My GPA 3.93, DAT: AA: 21/PAT:18
Any how, the admission office told me that the class is already full and everyone have paid their initial deposit. I was wondering what are my chances to get into this school? I know very slim but I never thought that UNLV would invite me for an alternate list..so disappointing

These are questions you need to ask the school, not strangers on the internet who have no more information than you.

here's a good news for ya: i'm strongly leaning towards attending case, so i might withdraw my acceptance from UNLV. but not till i visit the school again in couple weeks. so....hang in there! someone may take my spot! it may be you!!!

Hey I've been posting that same line, are you copying me?

to the original poster, you chances of getting in are next to none. The students have already put down a $500 deposit (non-refundable) and on June 1 they will pay another $500. At most maybe one or two students will not pay. There are already 15 students on the alterantive list. And from what I know they rank it but they don't give out your position on the list so don't hold your breath. Start getting ready to spend another $1000 on the 2007 app. Good luck.

$1,000? I wish! I'm up to like $2,500 or so.

That's everything included into one, depressing lump sum.

It includes the DAT, AADSAS, secondaries, books for the DAT and other stuff, a whole semester of classes and books, gas, parking, flights for interviews, hotel rooms, rental cars, a new suit and one deposit to UCSF.

I only applied to 7 schools.

Damn, now I depressed myself!!! 🙁

I'm sure a few spots will open up. I paid the initial $500 deposit but am going somewhere else, so that's an extra spot for you. Good luck.

kittylover, where are you going?

Just wanted to let you guys know that another spot has opened up. I withdrew my acceptance today. I had put the initial deposit down back in December but then got into Columbia in February. Unfortunately Columbia takes ages to actually deposit the check so I was just waiting to make sure everything was ok. Sorry for making you guys wait, I'm sure one of you will get contacted soon with good news. Its a great school so good luck to whoever gets that spot!

Thanks everyone for the replies. After my visit to school, I really liked it and I really want to attend UNLV. I can't wait to hear from the school. Wish me luck.

Best Regards,
Mahya

Wow, this website is great. I am having my interview on April 13. I know I am interviewing for the waiting list, but seeing two people have already dropped their admission, I know I still have a chance. Got to keep the faith.

I'm going to a Cali school.. (my home state)

How does one "withdraw" acceptance after having sent in deposit? Do I just email the admissions office?

Good luck to all who are still waiting.

How do you know this stuff? Do you know someone in admissions or are you just giving it your best guess? I mean cause if it's your best guess I would say that you were wrong about the whole 'maybe one or two students will not pay' thing, cause it looks like already two people on SDN have dropped out and obviously not every applicant is on SDN so probably more will not pay the second deposit also. I'm not trying to argue, just making an observation. I'm still hoping for a chance there. Tufts is great, but I'd rather be out west.

you have a good point, but i agree with with 786 that not too many people will get in off the waitlist, something like 5-10 is my guess

I know this because I go to UNLVSDM. I know people at the admissions office and they know me, what I write here is exactly what I hear from them. Ofcourse I don't see the exact numbers, I just go by what they talk about. Last year, one of the admission's office personal gave out specific information and that caused a lot of problem. Dr. A and Dr. B decided that they would not be giving out specifics.

Just to give you a heads up, last year only one person I know made it from the waitlist, and that too was only three weeks before the orientation. And this year they have made the rules more strict, and they have had about 1000 more applicants so that is why I said what I said, nothing personal and not intended to put anyone down. I hope this clears up things.

Yeah call up Steve, or Kimberly at the front desk at 774-2520 and talk to them. Better yet, try to get in touch with Dr. Brownstein, he is very nice and very helpful. You could even get your money back if you can present a valid reason..
