I have heard that UNLV is extremely easy to get into if you are a Nevada resident. I heard that they were actually looking for residents to fill their seats this year. Does anyone know if this is true?

Nobody knows?? Id really like some information on this and also if the school has a good biology department?

Im sure it is much easier to get into UNLV if you are a Nevada resident. I can't remember the exact numbers, but when i interviewed they said that out of the 100 nevada applicants 50 were accepted. So if that is correct nevada residents have much better odds of getting accepted.

Yeah, you would have really good odds as a Nevada resident. I think it was more like out of 200-300 applicants... about 50+ get in.

Better than Cali anyway. We have like 4000 applicants for ~400 seats. Don't quote any of those numbers haha

ohhh u got way the h more than that

I had an interview there recently and dr ancajas went over this. Last year they had 70 nv residents apply. By law they must take in at least 40 residents.

I doubt this is true. I thought I had pretty competitive scores and grades, but as a resident, I only got an interview post-dec 1 and have no idea if I'll actually get in. They also make it pretty tough to prove residency unless you go to high school there. I've lived and worked in Vegas for 4 years and it took months of going back and forth with admissions before they finally considered me a resident.

Haha, seriously! And in-state tuition isn't even that great of a deal to begin with! Thank god for HPSP (if I can even get it)!

I wonder if there is any truth to UNLV looking to take on more OOS students to get more tuition $$$ cause they're having some financial issues

that's what they went over on my interview day too

Last cycle according to the ADEA:

Nev 103 applicants from in state
Interviewed 89 of them
Accepted 66 of those

If you live in Nevada those are wonderful odds.
