UNLV Interview 2009-2010

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
what a breath of fresh air! i'd love that kind of flamboyance when learning about dental caries and biostats!

dude, dr. K is amazing. he is such an asset to the dental school. i do research with him at the school, and you should see how brilliant he is when it comes to innovation in his work. you should see how many papers get published by his research initiatives.

plus, it's fun doing research with someone like Sean Hayes from Will and Grace. 🙂

That guy was Awesome!!! He actually made dental school seem fun!

Just got my invite for December 10th. I would have liked a couple weeks earlier, but at least I'll get a shot at their second wave...

Anyone going to be there Oct. 15th? This thursday? I'll be at the stratosphere.

We don't need to bring anything right?

To those that interviewed at UNLV already, we didnt have to bring anything with us did we? Just making sure.

i'm down with that idea.
According to the stats they showed us during the interview, so far not many NV residents have applied to UNLV (at least compared to previous years this number is down). So, if this continues to be the case, they might in fact take more out of state applicants this year. :xf:

That's awesome! It is early in comparison to what some have reported... I know someone who scheduled a few weeks ago and their interview is in December. When did you get the app complete e-mail?

what did you have in mind to bring? there is nothing listed in the email invite.

if you've done the UNLV dental simulation course where you get to make waxups and alginate impressions, Dr. A said you could bring those materials in to show you mad hand skills 🙂

my waxups got dinked though, so i will only be bringing my impressions:laugh:

UNLV interview was awesome. Dr. Kingsley is quite an enthusiastic person; pretty awesome school all around.

Yea! the area is definitely not as bad as some people make it sound like. Living in LA, I've seen much worse.

I am a DS4 at UNLV. This rose has its own thorns but for the most part I've loved it here. The clinical experience has been wonderful. I have too many patients and need more hours in the day to meet their needs. This is a huge upside of the program.

Highly recommend giving UNLV consideration.

That's good to hear. Can you tell us a little more about your experiences with the school, faculties and curriculum. Thanks!

I think that is a great thing for a dental school. I am also interested in more info or details you can give. I have been to the city and I have friends going to the pharmacy school in vegas. They are overall quite impressed with their experience and have great things to say.

Hi All,

Just got an invite for Feb. 18th...any words of advice from those who have gone thru UNLV interview process... thanks!

I have an interview on feb. 18th, and was wondering what my chances of acceptance are as an OOS? WIll they have most of their class already selected?

thanks!

good question that i wonder about too (especially if many oos seats are filled by the dec 1st acceptances)

Personally, I think there's always a chance. Keep in mind that a large number of OOS people who apply to UNLV are California residents. Many of these people will interview at Cali schools between Jan-Feb, and some will get accepted there, which means they will most likely give up on their offer from UNLV. That should open more spots for you.
On the other hand, however, UNLV is a state school, which primarily gives acceptance to Nevada residents. So, OOS students don't have a high chance to begin with, which means the sooner you interview there as an OOS student, the better your chances.

Good luck anyways👍

I was wondering the same thing so I compiled a list of people who were accepted last cycle. The first date on the left indicates date accepted and the date next to the person indicates their day of interview according to predents.com So looking at last cycle, it's better to have an earlier interview. I would give the office an call to see if there are earlier spots since people may have already withdrew their interview. This is only a guess because I received a call from the office last week for an interview confirmation.

Have anyone's AADSAS status become updated because I was told 2nd round decision would possibly be determined after the 25th, which was yesterday.

My friend just got accepted today. So they are starting the second round.

I don't think they update through that, just send a letter. I called them this morning though and they've made their decisions. I interviewed Jan 14th and got accepted! I'm a Cali resident.

Thanks for letting me know. I just called them up and found out I didn't get in for this round, but will be reconsidered for the next round on Feb 23rd. Kinda funny because I thought I did well on both of my interviews, although I think I was the first or second one to be done with my interview.

Btw, congrats to those that got in today! I interviewed on the same day as you indynicm.
