Dose any one know what time the interview start at UNLV and it ends?
Some info about the day?
And, where they are in the cycle as far as their class size go?
I really appreciate your comments.....👍
Do you have an interview there already? If you do, they should have sent you an itinerary for the day. You need to be at the school by 9 am, and the interviews and everything else end by 2:30.
It's very relaxed. You start by hearing from the dean, then some other facts about UNLV. They'll show you how many people have been invited to interview, how many have actually interviewed, how many have been offered acceptances, and how many have sent in deposits.
You'll go on a tour. Their facilities are awesome. You also have a financial aid presentation, which isn't as awesome, because UNLV is pretty expensive (due to NV budget cuts).
After lunch, you have interviews: one with a student, and another with a faculty member. My interview with a student ended up with us talking about college football and playing ping pong. Very relaxed and a good chance to talk with students and see what they think of the school.
Finally, your interview with the faculty. They try to put you at ease and just ask you a few questions about yourself and your application. It's very relaxed as well.
As far as class size, they have 80 spots. I have 'heard' that there are about 40 people that have sent in deposits, but I know of two that deposited at UNLV that won't end up attending there. In my opinion, you should have a decent chance to get in if you've been invited for an interview.
If you dont mind, why didn't you choose UNLV over Creighton?
Cost, reputation/clinics, and location.
Creighton is significantly cheaper for me (RDEP), and since they are a private school, they aren't affected by state budget cuts like UNLV has been lately.
Creighton has been around for 100+ years, and they have no specialties, so that allows students to treat a wider variety of cases. Since I want to be a general dentist, that's a great fit for me.
I am not a big fan of Vegas. I would rather live in SLC/Omaha, but that's just a personal opinion.
I think UNLV is a great school and will provide a great education, but for my situation, Creighton was a better fit.
Something else to mention about the interview day at UNLV. I felt the interview invitation e-mail that included the schedule for the day was a little bit unclear as to what time we should be at the school by. The e-mail stated that check-in was at 9AM and the first presentation was at 9:15AM. I arrived at 8:55AM, thinking that I had plenty of time. WRONG! They had already started the presentations! Anyways, I am just trying to tell you to make sure you are there at least 20 or 30 minutes early! Most interviews I had gone to have about a 15 minute period before the day starts for students to mingle. Like an ass, I assumed this was the 9AM-9:15AM period. Just a heads up.
prsndwg, have you been accepted to UNLV?

Haha. Yep. It definitely is a pretty sh*tty way to start off your interview day. Something else I thought of is...make sure you eat a big breakfast and poop/pee/fresh tampons/etc. before you go into the room because you will literally be there for like 3 hours straight without a break. At least my group was.

Yes yes! No coffee either ughhh. I was falling asleep during financial aid presentation.![]()
