On the UNLV Secondary Application there is a section for "Additional Information" which asks to explain any extenuating circumstances or provide extra information that could be useful in evaluating an applicant's credentials. Would you consider this section to be mandatory? I feel like I already explained everything in detail in the primary application. Thanks for your help!

I'm staring at this section as well. If you feel you're done explaining in words, then you're done.

For me, however, I'm considering in explaining a dip of my gpa in my college transcript.
