I was wondering if anyone had heard about being admitted at UNLV who was on the waiting list. I am just wondering about when people usually find out if they are off the waiting list, and if they have already started taking people off the waiting list for the coming year.

Thanks.

you probably received the letter from UNLV that stated that they had over 110 people on the waitlist, and that they were requesting that you return the letter stating your desire to remain on the waitlist. UNLV was requesting that the letters be returned by May 21st. So I if they have spots available I don't think that we would hear anything until at least next wee.

OK, for this cycle (2007-2008) it appears the class is full. How many people are they planning on waitlisting? Has anyone's AADSAS status changed to "Waitlist"?

I interviewed today and was told they were only going to keep the waitlist to about 25 people. And it will be ranked, not by interview date. So it sounds like the waitlist is actually a decent sign this year.

makushin,
so you interviewed for a waitlist spot today? how many students interviewed and how many more sessions to go?
btw, good luck. =)

I just called up there and they said I was put on the alternate list. Their class is full as of now.

Did you receive any notice (email/AADSAS) other than a call ? I called to see if I am denied or waitlist, but they said to call back on Mon if I will have not seen any email notice by Mon ??? ( He even did not ask my SSN or Name ) WHen did you call them ?

same here...I didn't get any definite answer either...I guess we just gotta keep on waiting...it's hard but don't lose faith

I've been kinda pushy (bad word, persistant is better) with Dr. Ancajas for the past 2 weeks. She said they haven't updated all the files but that I will be put on the alternate list. I also emailed Krystel Nielson and she said she wouldnt have any answers 'til Monday. I guess I was lucky and got my status early

So, is it mean that there will be only 25 ppl in waitlist ? Any other confirm on this ?

I called today, I'm on the wait list too. I have USC that might work out but I would rather go to UNLV. UNLV is my first choice.

I dunno, by the sounds of it I think the alternate list will be more than 25. And I think they usually only go 3-5 into the list anyway.

Did anyone get rejected? I mean last year they had 400 on the waitlist... if you interviewed and didn't get accepted, you got waitlisted. I hope that's not how it is this year.

I called and found out I was rejected today. *sigh*

any news today? was anyone placed on alternate list today?

if u don't receive anything by today, they are basically rejecting u, right?

Just got off the phone with UNLV. They said they sent out roughly 60 waitlist spots. I don't know how many are for out of state and in-state. In order to hold your spot you have to tell them you want to remain on the waitlist. They will prioritize it after they have finished with all their interviews (3 weeks or so).

sent out ? mail or email (hope not).
man, this is nerve-racking cause this is the only school ive interviewed at and i want to go there so badddd.

I just got an email from UNLV stating that I am on alternate list. 👎

Yeah they sent out an ALTERNATE email.
How many of you are planning on returning the email stating that you want to be on the waitlist?

I got an email today saying I was wait-listed. I was accepted to USC last week, but I'm still sending back my alternate sheet to UNLV. Cheaper, closer to home, and I really liked the school!

Dr. Ancajas told me today that there were about 40 alternate emails sent out. Someone earlier in this thread said there were 60? Anyways, she said that they've already gotten a few negative replies. She also said that in the past that as many as 12 were accepted from the alternate list. Dr. Brownstein last week said that due to all of the in-staters they're accepting this year, that there likely won't be as much of a turn over. 🙁

I just got my alternate email yesterday and will be affirmatively replying.

Good luck to all you alternates!

Sup Robbie... I'm sure you'll be high on the alternate list. Kristel Nielson (the secretary of admissions) said they sent out about 60 waitlist emails. Do you know if there is an out of state waitlist and an instate waitlist, or if there is just one?

Honestly, what are the chances for us out of staters? Based on the 2006 stats sheet given on the interview, there were ~2700 out-of-state applications, and they accepted ~29. That's roughly 1% acceptance. During my interview, there were about 10 people sitting on the table and only 1 was instate and the rest were mostly CA people. Seriously, what are the odds? I am not trying discourage anyone, I am just being realistic. I haven't been accepted anywhere yet and I am losing hope.

i seriously dont know wat to think. but i think there might still be hope for me since i havent received any sort of rejection via email or other and dr.ancajas said that the committee wont be meeting again until april.
so im going to be crossing my... everything... probably till june or til i hear something whatever comes first.
definitely sucky situation buttt dont lose hope.

I totally see your point. this was the first thought that came to my mind when I saw those stats
but it's kinda neat that we even got waitlisted. I would so rather wanna be waitlisted than get rejected. at least there's still some hope left. it might be false hope but you gotta keep beleiving. UNLV is my number one school and i haven't been accepted elsewhere, so i'll be patiently waiting

i think that the spots will end up going to out of state applicants. most instate applicants who have sent in deposits will end up going to UNLV. however, there are bound to be a few out-of-state applicants with multiple acceptances that will not end up attending UNLV, and i would think that those spots will be filled by out- of-state applicants. also, if you are a girl your chances to get in are probably better than guys. the new dean really wants to balance the class. (last year there were 59 guys to 19 girls)

UNLV is my #1 choice as well. I've been waitlisted. There is still hope, but in the meantime, i'll be retaking the DAT to boost my scores.

I got accepted to UNLV in Nov, but I am waiting to hear back from another school. I will hopefully get into my first choice school and a spot will open up for you guys. Good luck to you all👍

Of course they will prioritize it, but who knows if they'll tell us where we are on the list.
