Has anyone heard anything from UNLV recently, whether good or bad news? I have been waiting to hear something either way from them and haven't for some time.

this is all i know about unlv
no decision=rejected

It is honestly the most ridicilous situation.. they said they would meet in beginning march, then mid march, then end march, then mid april, now you call them and they don't even have a date set..ALL you have to do is say "yay or nay" are we in ? Are we out? Seriously, I don't know about you guys but I had plans to move out of the state and do a masters in the east coast..now I'm just on the brink of just staying here and wasting another year.. whatever...really funny thing is I know a few people who got in who have told me in the past that "You actually want to look at peoples teeth?? Eww"
I guess Med School and Pharmacy School didn't work out for them...UNLV is pretty easy to get into for in state students..

peace

I wouldn't say it's easy to get into for in-state bro.

Dude, I'm not going to argue.. but you should be damn happy if you are living in Las Vegas and applying to UNLV SDM. The in-state GPA always stays at around 3.0 and average 18 or 17 on DAT.. it is the out of state that makes it look harder then it is.. I will agree that the school is getting harder to get into because 3 years ago in state students with a heartbeat could get in.. I'm sorry.. I don't hate UNLV, it is actually my first and only choice but I'm not going to go as far and say it is a hard school to get into. I mean honestly there are bunch of pre-med/pre-pharm/pre-vet/Utah rejects going there now..YaY for becoming a resident for renting an apartment here for one year.
"Oh I have a great idea hunny! Why don't we move to Vegas, I'll teach at the Mormon church and you can be considered a resident when you apply at UNLV" "You know your right! And when I finish school we can move back to our beloved state and help our communities"

And here I am waiting as a resident who has lived in Vegas for over 14 years and have called this place my home...

yeah..it is pretty easy to get into

bleh tomorrow is another day for me to keep hoping..

Please don't knock my school. And look and see how much the scores went up from last years entering classes. It jumped up alot this year. And I bet the GPAs and DATs of in-state residents are exactly the same as other state schools having 2/3 students come from in state. Less applicants for more spots = less competitive scores. Thats how it works for in-state, ANYWHERE.

Its not "Our" school, you didn't get in yet.

It just a little ridiculous that you are saying all this crap about UNLV but yet you want to go there, why, so its cheaper? Thats b.s. I wouldn't want you there because of that, I want people in my class to be proud of where they get their degree....not..."well i lived in vegas, so i figured, why not, its the cheapest way to go"

Thats exactly why i didn't want to go to my state school because no one had pride to be there. So if you aren't going to have pride for UNLV and talk it up about how the scores are going up, and the curriculum is great, then go somewhere else.

hahaha...iheart you are so right. when i read "our" school I was thinking the same exact thing. It's not "our" school until you get in and personally, I also wouldn't want you in our class either with all of your negativity towards the school. Why would you even go to a school when you have ill feelings towards it anyway? just a thought

I was just speaking my opinion.. I don't hate UNLV obviously, since I will be there in the Fall or NYU... but I was just telling you guys that everyone there is confused, I get three different stories everytime I call.. that is a fact..at least for me it was.. and if you didn't have that problem good for you.. I hope you guys don't jump on people like that when you are studying here..we don't have one of the highest crime rates for nothing 🙂 Your opinion really doesn't matter..haha...geeks who have nothing to do then worry about what people say on the internet..

First of all...iheart and i are not geeks, since when did defending our school and making an opinion become "geeky". second of all i'm not trying to argue or cause any tension or anything like that on sdn. just want to leave on the note that we are all or were all pretty stressed about this whole getting in situation and maybe you're just really frustrated and taking it out on the school. i just hope you get into where you really want to go and where you can be HAPPY. if it doesn't happen this year it doesn't hurt to try again next year. ciao

I just heard from UNLV. They let me know I'm on the alternate list, but that's all they said. Just got that email today.
