So I'm in no way a NM resident, as I've lived OOS since I was 7, and I currently live in Colorado. I would really love to go to UNM, though (and CU is really tought to get into). Does anyone know if the following would earn me a secondary?

-Born in Albuquerque and lived there for 7 years.
-Both parents went to UNM undergrad.
-Dad graduated from UNM med school.
-11 close relatives (grandma, aunts & uncles, cousins) live in ABQ.
-Parents own land in NM.

Thanks.

Call the school. I too am from CO and looked briefly into NM because I love the state (no ties like you have though). It clearly states on their website that non-residents only receive consideration if they apply Early Decision. And 97% of the school is NM residents.

So, it is extremely difficult to get into NM if you are not a resident (even harder than CO). But with your connections, you may have a shot, but call the school because yours would be a special case.

Worst case, move to NM for a year and establish residency. Could even be kind of fun.
