Hello! I’m a pre-med undergrad working on a semester capstone project for a course in my university’s journalism program. My story is, broadly, on unmatched MDs and DOs.
I am interested in how unmatched MDs and DOs have been affected or are being affected by the Match both economically and personally. Example questions…
What has been your experience? How have you been coping?
Are you (or do you know anyone) resorting to picking up supplemental non-health jobs while they wait for next year’s match—like fast food, Instacart, Uber, etc.—as a way to earn extra income?
Did you have luck in SOAP? Reflections on the current state of the Match system?
If any of this applies to you, would you be willing to participate in a brief phone interview about your experiences/perspectives? If you can’t speak with me, could you connect me with any relevant contacts (unmatched students you know, from this year or the past), residency program directors, etc.?
