My application was verified last Wednesday...I applied early decision to UNMC, but I have yet to hear anything. I have competitive stats...29S, 3.8 BCPM 3.92 overall, good ECs. So I'm starting to get kind of worried. I keep reading about everyone else on here getting secondaries, yet I haven't heard a thing. If anyone has some advice about this, I'd really appreciate it!

Is UNMC the same as University of Nebraska? If so, I think there is no essay. Lucky you!

Umm...UNMC probably isnt out yet...If there isnt a thread on here, then chances are its not out.

Yeah, I noticed there wasn't a UNMC thread for this year yet, but I'm not sure how many people from Nebraska get on here. . .and yes, UNMC is the same as University of Nebraska Medical Center.

I guess I'm just concerned since I applied early decision. The deadline for EDP is August 1st, so that's still a few weeks away. I was just surprised that after nearly two weeks I still hadn't heard anything. Should I be alarmed or is this typical of early decision programs?

And if I don't hear from them by next Wed. (two weeks after processing), should I call and make sure they received my app.? Thanks so much for all the help!

call them

I figured I would give this a bump and just see if anyone else had an opinion. I'm thinking I should call on Monday...what exactly should I say?

I hate to bump this again, but anyone? I'm really more just curious what the timeline is for early decision. I figured that I'd have a secondary within a week, but it seems like this is not the case. Thanks again, everyone.

i just got a preliminary review rejection email today meaning they didn't even give me a secondary. OUCH. it talked about "limited attention to non-residents" so you being a resident, my loss has to be your gain as i think they're not very friendly to out of staters at all, reducing your competition. my stats are 3.5 gpa and 32 mcat with tons of ECs.

anyway good luck 👍

I got the same email, except that it's super frustrating because I applied there specifically as I am in the process of moving to Lincoln, NE! I have emailed them and asked them to reconsider my application in this light but I don't expect to have any success. Aaargh!

I got their secondary on 7/30 and was also scheduled for an interview on 12/5 (md/phd).

They don't have any essays, but they require that you have a disclosure form notarized.

Does UNMC only give secondaries to people they are going to interview? I got the secondary today and it said to select preferred dates for the interview. Does that mean I have a guaranteed interview or does that mean they will review my application and then possibly send an interview invite? I ask because I am OOS and have lower stats (27Q and low GPA) If it's a guaranteed interview invite, then the only thing I can think of is that they are considering me a resident because I grew up in Omaha and graduated high school in Omaha. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I submitted my secondary on 9/11 2:08 AM and received an interview invite 9/11 9:57 AM (EST). Based on this, it seems they give interviews to everyone who submits a secondary. I am an OOS (low GPA, 33R) and will be interviewing on October 24th.

-----------
Total admissions data 1373 applied, 408 interviewed, 166 were accepted, 121 enrolled
In-state admissions data 323 applied, 255 interviewed, 119 were accepted, 99 enrolled
Out-state admissions data 1050 applied, 153 interviewed, 47 were accepted, 22 enrolled

I am OOS, but from Iowa, so I only live about an hour away from Omaha. Does anyone know if Iowans (or other nearby states) are given more consideration? It's just so close...

i'm oos...I got an email confirming my interview two weeks ago for January 9th. i think maybe i got lucky, after hearing that oostaters don't get much love from nebraska!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that everyone given the secondary is given an interview.
