🙂 I have been informed unofficially of my acceptance into a Dental school. I wont say what school it is right now....because i dont know if I or the school could get in trouble.

Im wondering how many other people have gotten some sort of unofficial acceptance before the Dec 1 date? 🙂 😀 👍

Verbal or written?

I don't want to rain on your parade, and I hope you get plenty of acceptances to choose from...but you're not accepted till you get the official letter on or after December 1. A number of people have gotten burned putting too much faith in a wink and a nod from a school's admissions director. Good luck!

Could you, at least, tell which schools you applied? Except GPA, your stats don't seem to stand out though. Please don't get me wrong. I just want to understand the situation better.

you said "unofficial acceptance". even though you'll probbaly get accepted there, nothing is offical untill after dec. 1

Personally I think this post was created to bring "excitement" and/or "anxiety" to all people up here. Rules are rules and no school would want to damage its reputation by giving out acceptances (formal or informal) to applicants. Otherwise, every school can violate the rule and it will set the dental applicants into chaos.
Dec 1 is coming really soon. Let's patiently wait. We don't have to believe in this post! (or at least I don't).

We know all of us are waiting for Dec 1 so anxiously...
And, we all know that schools won't MAIL (they might say something UNOFFICIALLY) any OFFICIAL lettes till Dec 1.

So, let's stop BSing about "unofficial acceptance" or "wink or nod or any other gestures"....

Just 1 month!!!

I know nothing is guaranteed. Thats why I was hesitant to put on this thread. I know people who are attending the school that accepted me unofficially so they put in a good word for me. My GPA is high enough and my Dats are average. I still am skeptical about the acceptance until i have that official paper in my hand on DEC 1!

That may not be completely true. My dentist said, during two of his interviews, the dean of admission actually asked him if he wanted to put in a deposit to secure his seat. He didn't though since those were not his top choice. Please don't ask me which schools. I can't tell.

Thanks luder98, I didnt make this post to start up anything...I just wanted to know if anyone else got informed about their acceptances.

Too much secrecy. You may be telling the truth, but I'd bet against it any day. No one knows who you are, so just cough up the information. I could say the same thing, but it's useless. I think its . . .well, I agree with all of the other posters.

some schools tell you "unofficially" during the interviews, also i remember a lot of people got acceptaces in the mail before dec 1st...but the letter was dated dec 1st...(but i think it was from just one particular school...)
good luck... don't be stressed out yet...you got plenty of time to do that during dental school 😛

Howdy,

This is somewhat similar to what I posted on my other thread before. ^_^
But little different for the reasons below~

There are two places where you can get this type of messages:

1) During interview: This, I won't rely on it. The decision is still not made (didn't go through commitee), and smile can be very midleading these days, hehe.

However,

2) You call them something close to 12/01: This is what I did, I gave some schools a call last week, just to make sure things were all set. When the office (or whoever that picks up the call, and checks your file to make sure all is complete) tells you that you have a good news coming 12/01, or tell you "I'll see you in a month" with a smile tone, this I think is definetly a good sign. ^_^

Although, I agree with most people who replied my thread that nothing is certain until you get that think envelope, hehe. We'll all find out soon~

Good Luck All!!!

But don't be fooled! Some schools send their acceptance letters in a small thin envelope (like Creighton). Just something to think about when you're looking in your mailbox in early December.

I feel like were in a track meet, people keep jumpin the gun. You know what happens when you jump the gun more than once, you disqualified.

So unless you get a letter on December 1st, I suggest that the unofficial acceptance thread,be flushed down the toilet for right now.

I would hate for those who opened there mouths, and said "OH I am in for sure, becuase they figured in there heads that a wink of the eye, or gesture by the office secretary indicates all systems go" to have to go back on their original statment.

Just wait patiently, things will happen. We got less than a month.

what is the point of this thread? there are other things worth discussing: for instance, the Red Sox winning the World Series. 😀

I wouldnt be so quick to discredit the post. In most cases you are 100 percent correct about schools not handing out acceptances. However, I know for a fact that it does happen and it can be official. I would like to think someone is not starting this thread to bring excitement or anxiety to other people.
