I'm currently a third year, and I feeling completely unproductive this summer. All I'm doing is private tutoring chemistry and algebra, and I hope to get some shadowing experience soon. I'm not even studying for MCATs yet, because I decided to do a gap year and didn't want to start my studying late. Honestly, I just feel a bit unaccomplished compared to my peers who have internships and research for the summer meehh. Have I wasted my summer?

More than me.

1. write down some goals for stuff you can do this summer
2. work on them
3. ??????
4. profit

Your summer doesn't sound unproductive to me. I would much rather be tutoring than taking summer classes and trying to schedule mini-vacations to Florida around them. 🙁

It's still too early. Grab a volunteer project. Look for a job. Maybe take a class? Do something fun!

There's still 2 months left or so before school starts again. You could get in some volunteer work at a hospital or something.

Call a local free clinic and ask if you can help out. You should be ready to go pretty quickly instead of the application process /orientation/training required at hospitals. The clinic I volunteer at is understaffed which means I get to do more.
