I'm a bit low on cash needed to take care of all the initial costs of moving to/ starting med school. As an undergraduate right now, I'm pretty sure I didn't take all of my unsubsidized loans, only a portion of what I was awarded. Can I go back and request the rest from my school? If so, would this also work in med school fin aid?

no

This is why it's generally better to take the max in federal stafford loans and keep the difference in a savings account. Yes, you pay interest this way (the difference between the loan interest and the savings account interest rates), but the net cost can be much lower than the credit cards you are going to have to use instead.

Talk to your FA Office but don't tell them it is for medical school as they won't give you anything. But you can probably manage to get some more money if you tell them what it is for and if you didn't take out your full cost of attendance. Though if you graduate any time soon it's going to be a tough sell.

What you should do the month before you get your first loan disbursement in medical school is to use credit cards or have family loan you money until your money comes in. By the time you are finally in medical school you can go back and get more money very easily by just asking for it if you already got your disbursement (up to the cost of attendance).
