This last week I got a phone call from UoP, and I had been put on their alternate list. Does anyone know of the odds of getting accepted after being put on the alternate list?

It is pretty good actually. I had multiple friends on their waiting list and they all got in. Aparently UOP has a high turn down rate so spots are always opening up. Only problem is that I believe UOP doesnt give you your exact number on their wait list. So you might be waiting for awhile.

My interviewer also said that there's a fair number off the waitlist who, even if they don't get in, are guaranteed a spot in the following year. That's probably not all that attractive to you, though, given all your acceptances.

That's how I got in, that's how a good number of my clcassmates got in. If UOP is really where you want to be. That 1 year break is TOTALLY worth it. Go out and relax for a year before school strats.
I wouldn't say it's a GUARANTEE but most, highly, VERY likely. 😀

I am not too sure about the high turn down rate. When I was applying, one of the biggest selling point of the school was their LOW defer rate of the school at a solid 72-76% while most of other dental schools are 40-50% defer rate. So............I am guessing 1/4 of the students that got accecpted will choose to go somewhere else.
