hey all, just a quick update on my current situation: 3 semesters down, and i got a B average for my prerequisites since i've been dealing with personal stuff with my family, but since the classes are prereq's and since i just got back into school after a 8 year hiatus, it shows gradual upward improvement. After this semester i'll be free and clear to take one last core english/speech class and then on to the OChem/chem/physics/biosci classes.

per my research on admission, i was always under the impression that you need to graduate with a bs in biosci/health med, but on UOP's site, it states just the GPA/DAT and completed various 3 yrs bio classes. i think i can pull that off within the next 2 years.

my question is: can i just fulfill the breadth requirements and just apply as a 3rd year and kill the dat? i bought the kaplan book and i'm currently smashing out the whole PAT section since i havent yet completed the BioSci classes yet.

i honestly would love to save time and energy and just get to dental school ASAP.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

yeah i'm pretty sure that's possible.. good luck!!

Tou don't need a BS to apply. I was always under the impression that you didn't need it for any school, but I'd just check to make sure. there's no way the 2+3ers at UoP undergrad can get a BS in just two years. I could be wrong. I graduated in three years; so, getting into dental school after three years is possible.

well the 3 yrs mostly consists of lab @ UC Davis, so i'll go ahead and follow that route. i'm excited because after a past 8 years of life hardship, i'm finally on my way, AND i start shadowing next week! thanks for the info fellas!

UoP is probably the best school to apply to when it comes down to finishing your undergrad fast because they don't require a bachelors at all...some schools also don't require it, but actually want it.
Don't bother studying for the DAT yet though. Start a few months in advance. Take it right when you finish your most important classes.

How old are you? I'm 31, and in the exact same boat as you. I got a 5 yr degree in architecture, then after that worked for 6 years, took two years to complete my nursing prerequisites while working, and now I am doing the work it takes to get to dental school. I'm in SF, are you? I'd love to go to UOP. If you're in the city the medico-dental building has probably over a 100 dental and specialists' offices! Happy shadowing!
