can someone around the area tell me a good place to stay if i am arriving at the Oakland airport for the UoP intervew??
thanks!

Well, if you can avoid it...don't fly into oakland cause the BART system takes a while to get into the city, cabs cost a lot from the Oakland airport into the city, and you won't want to stay in Oakland the night before your interview cause you cannot count on there not being a long delay of traffic from Oakland to SF in the morning.

IF you can fly into SF, there is a direct train from Bart from that airport into the city and then you can catch a cab for less than 10 bucks to pretty much any hotel in town.

There are a ton of motels and hotels near school. Nothing really cheap, but it's worth the saved headache of not having to find a way into the city in the morning.

thanks!
but, i already bought my ticket to Oakland(it was so much cheaper...) 🙁...I probably should have asked about it before too.

It's not that bad. The BART from Oakland/Coliseum station to Civic Center station (which would be the closest to Pacific, I think) is only slightly longer than from SFO to Civic Center, and the ride is not expensive at all (no more than $4).

I think you actually want to get off the BART at Montgomery st. Then take the #3 bus up to the school. I did it a couple weeks ago. took like 45 min to get to the school from Oakland Airport. I didn't stay the night though so can't help you there. Good luck

Flying in and out of Oakland is not so bad, but it would probably be better to stay in SF, just because the area around the Oakland airport is pretty crappy unless you're into sideshows. Also, if you've never been to SF, you can take some time to check the city out while you're here.

I used to live in Oakland and commuted to SF everyday for work, took me about 45 min door to door via BART and bus. To get to UOP from Oakland, the easiest way would be to take BART and get off at Embarcadero, then take the 1 California bus. It'll drop you off right in front of the school.

Try using the trip planner on 511.org, it'll let you know how long it should take to get from one place to another via public transportation.

Thank you everyone!
