All of the threads on housing at UoP are older. Is anyone out there currently attending or planning on attending UoP? If so I was wondering on the housing situation. Is there any family housing available through the school? If not is there any nearby that is within a reasonable commute? Thanks for the replies. I know the school offers assistance finding housing, I just thought I would check here first as I have not yet applied or been accepted.
Thanks.

the school has some family housing in some condos in the presidio, that is where I am hoping to get into. It looks like we will get the applications for housing in March.

So is there one student apartment or 2??? Presidio is UOP's 2nd housing option right? Even though it's a little further away from campus.

they have a building of apartments a few blocks from school, but there are no kids allowed there. The Presidio is an area of town where the school owns some apartments. It is better option for anyone with kids which I got the impression is the OP. But if you're just single or married with no kids then the apartments close to school are probably the best option.

i'm a first year right now and i'll tell you what some of my married classmates are doing. some with young kids and newborn babies and such are living in presidio, and i think the others with kids are living in presidio as a single person while their families stay in the surrounding cities and they commute to see their families on the weekends and long breaks and stay at presidio during the week for school. i think they all manage to make time to see their familes. 🙂

I start there in July, my wife and I have two dogs, so we are shopping the city now.

Option to buy is: TIC (tenancy in common) one or two bedroom 600-1000 sq ft is about $350,000-450,000. Any cheaper and enter quite a compromise on location or condition.
Options to rent are: same size place for $2500-3500 per month

Most TIC's on market are very nice and remodeled/well designed, but not spacious. Don't expect private yard, and parking is included only in about 40 percent of them.
