Hello everyone!

I was just wondering what you, UoP dental students, do as far as housing? Anyone in the Pacific Housing? Any advice and suggestions welcome!

I lived in housing, and was glad that I did. All my friends were there, and it was close to school. It's close to Japantown and some nice restaurants on Filmore. Nonschool housing can be expensive, and the further you go, you'll have to worry about commuting.

After I graduated I think the school acquired some units at the Presidio, but that was pretty far from school, and the commute would have been crappy.

What is the Pacific Housing like? I can't seem to find any pictures. Is it more expensive to live closer to the school? I hear that Pacific Heights has some of the highest rents.

i'm currently a D1 and live in Student housing. 🙂 i quite enjoy it. n as for living in the Presidio my classmates who commute don't think it's too bad cuz they carpool n such. they always make it in time for class. so it's not bad.

it used to be a convalescent hospital. there are seven floors, with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom configurations. area well kept and clean. parking garage underneath. park across the street. walking distance from school, groceries, restaurants. all carpeting redone right around when I graduated (2001). Big lounge on the first floor. Guard on duty 24 hours a day. Secure/card access only. No pets. study lounge on each floor. trash chute at the end of the hall. free stuff/furniture given away at the end of each school year by outgoing students in the lounge.

the railed area in the middle of the building are the three bedroom units, with the biggesst kitchens and living areas. On either side of that are two bedroom units.

well its been 9 years, and I haven't set foot in there since that time, but they are in pretty good condition. I'd call and ask when the last time they were upgraded with carpet and cabinets. The rooms are better than college dorms, but you won't be living the life of luxury. My recommendation is to take the Post St apartments. The photo on the UOP housing page appears to be the Presidio apartments.

Anyone have comments about the Presidio housing? I think I'll take it because of the cheap rent, but as far as hearsay about convenience, etc? Comments? Thank you!

anyone have any recommendations for apartments around uop sod? i didnt get student housing so looking aroung . everything is SO expensive!

I've been living in housing for the past 3 years. The apartments are in good shape, there is a gym on the first floor, and a park across the street that just got renovated and has tennis courts, basketball courts, a pool and a library. Unless you live in a triple, you have your own bathroom. I definitely recommend living here. It can get overwhelming sometimes because you never leave school behind, but it's great to have people nearby for study or play, and the location is excellent and the price is good.

Presidio - most people that live here really like it. It takes a bit of getting used to because it is unlike the rest of the city and is somewhat far away from school. There is a lot of open space and wooded area, lots of parking, and it is right by the beach. The apartments are huge compared to those in the city proper.
