hi m also looking for accommodation for UOP (male only). If you are willing to join me plz let me know.

hey guys , i was looking for previous batches experiences for uop interview and i found a quote from one of the idp graduate from uop. I m pasting the exact quote :

Interview at UOP
As a former graduate of the IDS program at UOP, I wish to inform you and all others that were invited for the interview that you that you will have a very pleasant experience during the interview process at UOP. It is a three/four day process, the first day you will all be invited for a dinner in the evening and then the program director will tell you about the program. You will be taken for a tour of the dental school by the current students in the program. The next two days you will have a personal interview with a faculty member. You will be asked about your goals, future plans and it is a very general one-NOTHING RELATED TO DENTISTRY AT ALL. Then on the final day you will all be in the lab, having the same exercise on typodont teeth, you will be asked to prepare a Cl 2 on a post tooth (lower) and a crown prep for a procelain crown on maxillary central. The steps will be given as a guide and all you need to do is follow the steps. I would advise you to familiarize with the Numbering system (1-32). Also pls make sure that you do not nick the adjacent teeth-you will loose points. It will be better if you can practise the Class 2 prep and the crown prep, especially if you have been out of practice. These two exercises are the deciding factors for your admission-scores do not play much role at this point once you have been called for the interview. They usually call about 100-125 students for the 23 positions, so the main criteria for the selection is based on the practical exam. You will have enough time, they provide all the equipment, I think you need to carry a handpiece/you can rent one also-not sure about this. They will give all the info in the interview letter-there will not be any surprises. So prepare yourself for these two exercises. I wish to add that students with high NDB scores did not get in as their practical exam was not upto a certain standard. So do keep in mind that once you are called for the interview, all are at the same level, it will be the practical (technique exam they call it) will be the deciding factor.

Feel free to ask any questions....have a good time in SF.... It is a great city and try to see some places....

ALL THE VERY BEST...

Hope this helps all of us , best of luck everyone!!!!!

guys is it dry cutting for the exam

Guys Prepare well for bench exam and Try to get critics for your prep from fresh graduate or student from dental college. They are the best one to give you advise. Study book for prostho called Schillinberg. It has given all the information about crown cutting. I have Electronic PDF copy of that book. Send me email at [email protected] with your email address I will forward it to you. All the very best to all of you who got the interview and for those who didn't get interview( like me 🙁 ) just try to prepare well for next year...👍

you can wear ANYTHING the day of the bench exam...dont have to be formal. they dont care what you wear. just make sure you wear FORMAL attire for orientation and FORMAL attire for interview. dont stress too much about this guys. they wont judge you on what you wear!

Hi,
do we need to carry typodont for practice session? before the actual exam?

Hi

Do they provide with micro-motor or air -rotor //or both during exam??
Please advise...Thanks

is any body aware what they usually ask for the practical exam .well there be amalgam filling .
is there any technical interview ?

I am UOP gaduate and during my bench exam we had to prep class 2 amalgam on molar and PFM on anterior tooth. You will be given step by step instructions that you need to follow to complete preps according to UOP requirments. You will be interviewed by one of the faculty members, not really technical interview. They rather would like you to know you.During first evening you will have opportunity to talk with current IDS students.Make sure that you ask questions and listen.UOP is a great place to be!

Kilgore is much softer, cuts fast.I recommend you at least practice on few teeth

Does anyone know if we are allowed to use matrix band on the adjacent tooth while doing the interproximal reduction.
Thanks

Guys , I need to know do they ask directly do onlay on 15 or 3/4 on 14 or they give u a case presentation on tooth for example 15 and u choose the type of prep

I'm an Indian female looking for a partner for uop accommodation.please message me if interested

Hello All,
They usually ask # 8 PFM & Class 2 on 19 or 30.Don't take this for sure cause they can ask anything. The manual helps a lot.Every one will get a manual on the day of exam for the practice session, they want every one to be familiar with what is taught in school.

I saw lot of you have questions about what to wear.1st day,the dinner with students and intro to school, just be formal u need be dressed in suit but u should be professional.2nd day will the interview usually suit will be the best with closed toe shoes.3 rd day will be the test,u can wear anything u like.Jeans will be Ok too.

I hope this will help u all.

Good luck.

@neelima,thanks a lot for the feedback.did you say we need to wear suit on the 1st day too?
Do we need to get our own stuff (teeth) for the practice session?
