On Uop's website it says 4 semseters of bio are required. So far I have taken Gen. Bio 1 and 2 along with A&P 1. I'm planning on taking one semester of biochem this summer since it's required at some of the schools I'm applying to. Would biochem fulfill the 4th semester of bio for Uop or is it considered a chemistry course? Does anybody know how strict Uop is with this requirement?

I think biochem will be fine to use for fulfulling the bio requirement. Does the biochem class also have a lab component? Keep in mind you need to have 4 semesters of bio related lab classes. These can either be separate lab classes or ones that are taken in conjunction with the lecture.

If you ask UOP, they'll say they're really strict about the requirements, but I don't know if that's really true. My undergrad had a weird track for chemistry, we only had to take one semester gchem, 2 semesters ochem, and one semester biochem to complete the chemistry series. After getting accepted, I asked if I would still have to take that second semester of gchem, even though my school didn't require it. They told me my DAT score was high enough that it didn't matter.

So I guess there's certain ways to skirt around the requirements, but I wouldn't advise it. Give them a call and verify biochem can be used as a bio requirement.

Yes there is also a lab with the lecture. I was hoping to be done with classes early in the summer with just that one biochem course so that I can realy focus on studying for the DAT. I'll give them a call and see if it is ok.
