i just finished my first year at uop, so i can tell you about my first year, but not about down in clinic yet.

-classes: didactics were not too bad, it's more about the amount of time and effort you put in to studying/preparing. none of the classes seemed impossible to do well in, except for our fixed prost. class. lab classes were also a big part of our first year, the lab portion was okay for me, i'd say i have above average hand skills so i didnt struggle too much with that. however, there were kids that did struggle, but the ones that spent hours and hours practicing ended up doing well.

-atmosphere: GREAT, i can't imagine another school having a warmer, open, and friendlier environment. faculty and staff are all very friendly and nice, people in my class all have a great bond and are very helpful.

-location: pacific heights area in san francisco, ca. nice, safe location for san francisco, weather is pretty nice for san francisco, its not as cold as other areas.

-school's prestige: i'd say that our school is mainly known for being a very good clinical school. if you want to be a great general dentist, UOP would be the place to go. doesnt mean im saying that specializing is out of the question. i'd say about 10% of the kids go into specialty.

-overall: if i could redo it, i'd still pick uop. i couldnt be happier. the first year is very intense, since we are packing a 4 year curriculum into a 3 year program it does get tough, but all worth it.

Thanks for the info. I'm starting in two weeks and it helps to get the info on how you would "do it again".
