I got call last week from UOP and I will be interviewing for the waitlist on Feb 23rd. Anyone else? Does anyone know what percent of ppl on UOP's waitlist get in? From students that have had UOP interviews, what are some tips of impressing the interviwers? This is my top choice! Also, I see on the shedule that there some presentations after the student interview+lunch which ends by 2PM. Are these really useful? I have a midterm I'm hoping to take at 3PM (the teacher's not giving make-up exams) at UC Berkeley and was wondering if I could leave early. Since I live so close to UOP, I can drop by and find out more about financial aid etc anytime. Thanks for you input!

i have an interview for the waitlist on 2/19. they said they rank the waitlist people and then as folks drop slots, they pull of the waitlist....probably stuff you already knew.....anyone else?

hi guys,

congrats on getting interviews from them. I was wondering what does ur web portal say? Mine still says re-review in Jan even though its mid Feb. what does yours say?

on the UoP site mine says "interview"

i think it went from "under review" to "interview"....i applied fairly late, if that matters....

I remember reading that if you end up in the first quartile of the wait-list, you have a pretty good chance of getting in.

I was in your position last year. they waitlist about 30 people every year and about 10-15 get in this year and the rest have a pretty good chance of getting in next year (if they want to wait). congrats on getting the interview.

Good Luck

I also have an interview for an alternate spot coming up in March. Because it's so late, I feel like my best chances are probably going to be a spot for the next cycle? Unless what I heard from UoP students is true, all alternates are interviewed first, then are given a decision in April? In which the time of the interview doesn't matter much...
If I do receive a spot for next cycle, would it be smart to turn down other acceptances for UoP, wait a year, and finish in the same time as you would at a 4 year program? Or just go ahead and start at the other school this Fall. 😕

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I'll be there interviewing on Thursday for an alternate spot and I'm so darn excited, it's like Christmas!! The feedback on UoP is incredible....

Although it is ultimately your decision to wait a year or not, many waitlisted people do turn down acceptances and waited for UOP's next cycle (including me) because UOP was simply their first choice. Although there is no guarantee, for some people it is worth the risk (it was for me).

There's no guarantees? 🙁 But the chances are fairly high though right?

Yes there is No guarantee and they will tell you this, also at the interview they will tell you that there is a pretty good chance of getting in next year as long as you get waitlisted and do everything that they ask you to do (for example take additional courses) but again no guarantee. I had a pretty good feeling about this and I took a risk and waited (it paid off) i know several others who did the same and also got in. Again it's your decision, and talk to the admission people when you are there, they are very very helpfull.

Wow we have helpful discussion going here! I did not know that people that are waitlisted at UOP have the choice of getting in next year! Ramforte, you said you "waited an year"..does that mean you reapplied via AADSAS to UOP or did UOP tell you that if you take such and such courses, you're in? Also if you remember any of the names, which admissions persons were most helpful? Is the interview any different for us alternate listers than for the regular folks?

So basically the interview is the same for all, and they will let you know if you have been waitlisted in about two weeks after the interview. If you do get waitlisted they will tell you which quadrant you are in and if you have a good shot for this year, so you can make a decision. Again, they will not guarantee anything , however, they tell you that your chances of getting in is very high because basically the only reason you did not get in this year is because they did not have enough space (and it's already very hard to get an interview at UOP). They officially tell you exactly what to do to increase your chances, if you are interested in waiting a year for them. And all the admission people are helpful, you'll meet them when you go there (UOP has some of the best staff I have seen in dental schools).

AADSAS: "Received/Under Review"
UoP application status: "Reviewed, No Decision" Comments: "Re-review in January"

guess what UoP .... its Feb. 17

Don't worry, same thing happened to me (no decision re-review in Jan) , I got the call at the end of February.

You were called for an interview at the end of Feb. and were eventually accepted??

Read the posts above, I explained everything, and if you haven't realized by now, yes, I am starting UOP in July.

whoa there snap dragon ... sorry I asked ... your straight faced avatar is very appropriate.

there's no need for the sarcastic comments eldirty, ramforte just provided you upfront with information that you should be thankful for. She could have easily referred you to other older posts or told you to search for it your self.

I appreciated his/her response and congrats on your acceptance. I dont however appreciate the belittlement.
I apologize for not reading the above posts as if I would be tested on it and without predents ... come on
I just dont think my question was deserving of the response ... but if you do then he/she should appreciate the backup.

Hey TMG26 thanks, I just wanted to help this thread, most people got what I tried to say ,but u know some people just take things too seriously and act aggressively even though there is no reason for it, and I won't dignify their way of talking with a comment , you never know , maybe I would have felt this aggressive if I hadn't got a call either 😀
