So how are people celebrating tonight?

I'm having a huge party at my friend's house...we're doing a 70's disco theme. I just sent some friends to the store to get a couple kegs and hard liquor so we can start celebrating as soon as I get off work.

Okay....so maybe I'm Mr. Social and a little to ahead of myself, but class of 2010 starts on July 6th...who wants to have a party on July 5th? I'm offering up my place even though I have no idea where that will be yet.

Uh, dude, that's my birthday...there will definitely be a party of some sort going on 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
and yes it is 5:21 in the morning in Dallas and I am totally wasted... but feeling OHHHHH SOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to everyone who will be coming here next year! I look forward to meeting you all. My best advice is: enjoy your free time before you get here, and when you do arrive, be prepared to bring your 'A' game! It's very challenging but also rewarding at the same time. See you all in July!

As far as the timeline for Pacific: Does anyone know when you'll take your National Boards Part I? 3/4 through the first year or in the winter or... what? Doesn't seem like you get a decent break to study for it... or do you?

Don't quote me...but I heard you kinda have to make time yourself to study. There aren't any long breaks from the curriculum for a person to just do nothing but study, only maybe 2 weeks between certain quarters. But I've heard that Pacific trains you really well to excel on the tests, so I wouldn't freak out about it.

At Pacific, most students take Part I during the fall quarter of their second year (which is right now). I've heard that many people are taking it on Dec. 11th, which is the weekend before our finals week. This doesn't really give a big break to study. Although, I do know someone scheduled for Dec. 29th which will give him almost two weeks of vacation time to study. It's up to the individual to decide how much holiday time they are willing to spend studying.

English Major
3.55 GPA
3.75 Science GPA

Scholarships...from what I understand...are given based upon academic achievement...thus high DAT and GPAs will "set you apart."

I didn't get a scholarship (my DAT scores averaged 22)
My good friend got the Dean's Scholarship for about $30,000...he has the same GPA as me but got an academic average of 24 on the DATs
Last year my other good friend got that same scholarship...he got an academic average of 25

Biochem major, 3.0 gpa, 25AA, ALL prereqs at community college and yes I got the scholarship. As far as setting me apart? The 25AA probably sealed the deal for the scholarship.

Being an underrepresented minority probably got me the scholarship. 🙄

lol, I'm just kidding. I have no idea.

Anthro, 3.6, no community college, DAT 23/23/23. Probably got the scholarship because of my DAT, plus I met Dr. Yarborough in the summer, hit it off, and kept in touch.

Same as Pine. I met Yarborough a year ago and we had a lot in common (sports). Also, I have had 2 brothers and a dozen good friends who all graduated from UoP. That always helps. As for Pre reqs; I took most of my Sciences at a Community College. As long as it doesn't reflect on your DAT scores, they don't care. My DAT 20/22/19.

lol, that's funny, it was sports for me too. I kitesurf and he thought that was cool.

Moral of the story: Chat Dr. Yarborough up about sports - and you're in 😛

Party? Im in.

anybody get the letter yet?

My parents and I both received the letters. Im in arizona

Dr. Yarborough told us today that they've offered spots for 96 applicants so far. Class size is 143 so there's still ample opportunity for people still interviewing to get in. He thinks they'll be interviewing up until the end of January for positive spots, then it'll switch to waitlist interviews. They're hoping to create a waitlist of about 50 applicants. I have a couple classmates that interviewed as late as April and one got in the week before matriculation, and the other on the 3rd day of class. There's always a chance.
