Anyone else interviewing in March? My friend called the admissions office Fri. and they said they had accepted 100 people and need 10 more b/c their incoming class will be 110 people total. I had read they took around 210, anyone know why the discrepancy?

hey ..are you sure they've already taken thsi many people...geez. that's a lot. only 10 more spots left?? is that the case

That is the info my friend was given when she called to check on her status. I am wondering what the deal is myself.

i don't know how many people they're accepting this year, but they've been taking around 200 people each year. so i think your friend probably heard it wrong.
if you need to clarify that, you can ask the admission people on your interview day.
good luck!

UOP will accept 210 applicants this year. 110 from other universities, while 100 are from their own Pre-Pharm-D Advantage programs that they have.

By the way, every year is like this. HALF of their entering class is composed of their own UOP students.

Damn that sucks.

I'm going to have my interview on the 3rd week of March. I didn't know they take 100 students from their own school.

I heard 1400+ applied to UOP and they only take 100 students from outside of their school. That's harsh.

Thanks for the info!

That seriously sucks, those odds are terrible. They've already taken 100 people so we're interviewing for the last 10 spots. 🙄

I thought I had a 50% chance getting in. Now it's only a 10% chance.

Good thing is that people that got into other schools might decline their uop acceptance.

has anyone bothered to call to check on the status of their app? i think it's a lost cause for me.. haven't heard anything at all from uop... 🙁

keiki, you shouldn't wait.
just go call them.

thanks ucdbiochem... i took your advice and called.. they didn't really tell me much except that they have received everything for my app. they also said that there's only 3 more interview dates left... outlook isn't so good...🙁 did they really receive 1400 apps? where was that info posted?

People that interviewed at UOP informed me that UOP received 1400 applications.

Why is everyone applying to pharm school this year?

I honestly believe it is because pharmacists in California are making a lot more money. At the USC interview, the interview coordinator said this year, their graduates are being offered 110-120 k a year + a bmw.

110-120k/yr?
that seems to be kinda high.
i guess only some graduates are able to pull out that kinda salary.

I know that in 2001, UOP only received about 1,000 applications and out of those, only 400 was interviewed and approximately 185 or so applicants were accepted.

I was talking to the recruiter at UOP and she projects that in this upcoming application period, they are expecting at least 2,500 applications. The jump is due to the new application system called PHARMCAS, which is supose to help the applicant but IMHO, this system is only there to make money just like AAMCAS, AACOMAS, and other central application service like these.

PHARMCAS may allow students to apply more schools, but i think student will have more work to do cause there will be secondaries sent out from schools. just like AMCAS.
